polishing problem

I need help in finding something I can use to polish my intercooler. It has fins on it that are 7/16 wide and 5/8 deep. I need something that I can use to polish the fins and the arear in between them. Any ideas? I would like something that I could use with a cordless drill or something like that.

Are the fins fragile? I thinking a mothers powerball might fit what you are looking for.

They are not that fragile, but the power ball is to large. The fins are only 7/16's and the power ball is to pointed and wouldn't get the sides, but thanks for the idea.

Well if they are that small, I would say the dremel is your friend. In the cordless kit I got to do some hobby work, there is an nylon attachment for polishing.

Get a 6" x 1/2" buff wheel and use a corded electric drill for the large areas.

Use buff cones for the smaller areas.

A Dremel is a little wimpy for that. It might work fine, with a light touch. But I bent the shaft on my Dremel doing what I thought was a little polish. I bought an air compressor and a pneumatic die grinder with a polishing wheel and it works great!

I haven't seen the stock finish on the intercooler on a supercharged MINI, but it better be really smooth before you lay a polishing wheel on it. Start sanding with sandpaper, going finer and finer, before you polish. Sometimes you have to make your own wooden tools to get into crevices to get them smooth.

You might consider a PowerCone with aluminum polish -- work it at low speeds for better control and to prevent any slinging.
