BlackWOW
BlackWOW
Just picked up a bottle of BlackWOW. Can anyone give me some feedback on this product. I tried one spot and find it to be VERY greasy and leaves a oily film on the black plastic. I think this will be nothing but a dirt magnet.
Anyone use this and how effective is it.

It takes very little (sesame seed size) BW to do an entire wheel arch. Use very sparingly and work it into the trim (I use a skinny MF pad). It sounds like you might have applied way too much product. Used correctly, it doesn't attract dirt and will wear well.
Thanks Jeff,
I'm gonna work with it, I hear way too many GOOD things about it. I only did a small portion and used a TINY bit of it.
Read some other posts and got it now.

It's a great product I am impressed with it. I have done my wheel arches, under the JCW side skirts and the splitter on the front JCW aero kit bumper with it a few times in the past 2 months. It holds up to the rain well and works better than any other product I have tried.
Get OctaneGuy or Kenchan's attention either one of those 2 will give you excellent advice on how to use BW properly.

+1 - use very sparingly and work it in with a good micro-fibre towel/mit or something that you can control to keep off the paint. One Sunday after washing, waxing, and applying BW, I encountered a fuel pump that didn't shut off thus causing overflow right down the wheel arch.
As soon as I got home I washed that quarter panel, dried it, re-waxed it, and re-applied Black Wow. Awesome. The only negative I have is that after washing & drying the car water always drains from the bottom of the doors and that spot seems to show on each side. Other than that I love it. Did I say use sparingly?

Congrats on purchasing my Black Wow.
Here are some tips.
1. Black Wow is designed to Absorb into the plastic trim. Even on my 3 day old Clubman, the cowling and arches are significantly improved with one application of Black Wow.
2. Depending on where you are apply BW to will determine how much BW you should use. The amounts range from a sesame seed sized drop to pea sized per application. Use a microfiber or lint free applicator for best results. Work that drop in until it won't spread any further. If the plastic is textured like the arches, you will need a pea sized drop. If it's smooth like on certain parts of the cowling, you can use less to go the same distance.
3. Black Wow was designed to be more durable and long lasting than anything else and it achieves this by being absorbed into the plastic. Older trim that hasn't been treated and is oxidized will "drink" more Black Wow and may require repeated applications. If you apply BW and find that it has faded after a few days or a week, the appropriate response is to apply more. The time it takes for each plastic to reach saturation is different and cannot be predicted. If the trim has had other products applied to it, it's possible they could inhibit BW's performance. That's one of the reasons PreWow aka PW was developed.. it's not available for sale yet however.
4. BW CAN attract dust before the first car wash especially if you overapply. However unlike typical trim products, as soon as you wash the trim, you don't need to reapply BW. With BW, it won't wash off after successive washes once it has fully absorbed. I usually recommend applying BW a few days before you wash it for the first time. To minimize the attraction, use the recommended amount and make sure to work it in. Using MORE than necessary is not beneficial.
5. If you need more help, PM or email me or call me Toll Free at 866 707 9292. It kind of surprises me that as a MINI owner and very active in the community since 2003 ('03 MC, '05 MCS, and 2010 Clubman S) that people don't PM me directly when they have problems with Black Wow.

I had some white places where I was not so careful in applying waxes an such. Tried peanut oil to remove them, and failed. Even got some Epic spray on the textured surfaces (sorry Richard) of the wheel arches.
A month or so back I applied Black Wow to my black trim, about 3 days before i actually washed the MINI.
I followed the directions very carefully. Small dot, rub rub rub. Small dot, rub rub rub. Let it soak for a bit, then wiped off excess with wet paper towel. Had to do the bad white spots twice, a week apart. My black trim was indeed very bad. The "other" stuff I had been using looked ok for maybe a day.
So now we're 3 weeks since that 2nd application of Black Wow, I have not had to re-apply and the black trim still looks amazing.
And no dust collecting either.
I believe subsequent applications will not require as much rubbing, but more of a wiping.
The MINI is due for it's monthly detailing so we'll see how it applies.
I'm a Black Wow believer now.

Thanks Les. With the Pre Wow, I've dribbled a bit on a stiff detailing toothbrush and just gently brushed any wax/polish residue. You see it lifting off immediately and it's gone for good. THAT is the future, lol. I haven't released it because I wanted to ensure a fool proof repeatable method for removing this tough residue and I'm 98% convinced this is it! I just want to check how this works with normal off the shelf firm tooth brushes! We're almost there to getting PW out on the market.
For now though, BW will do it too, with just a bit more effort.

Totally agree with this post. I use it and I have barely gotten 1/4in from the original level in the bottle. At this rate, I will ahve my bottle of B-Dub for at least 5 years. It does not attract dirt if used just as the directions state. I even got comments from a local detailer asking me what I used and how he could get some.
I haven't used blackwow, but I do use the Adams products and love them. The VRT does a great job but does streak with a little water. Still it does a great job.
