Our Mini's first Spa treatment
Our Mini's first Spa treatment
I actually did some detailing over the holiday weekend that included washing, claying and waxing. Most of the products I used were purchased at OctaneGuy's shop in Orange County.
Day one Claying and waxing the whole car. First step was to mask the black trim and clear bra. The claying, which was fairly quick, seemed like a waste of time because the paint was super smooth, but I knew it wasn't every time I looked at all the dirt and crap on the clay
. After that was the waxing, so I did that by hand and it was a bit difficult because I couldn't tell whether I was using the right amount of wax and it was also difficult to apply it evenly
One thing I do remember doing when applying the wax was to do it in a linear motion, rather than circular because I felt it would avoid streaking. For claying I used the clay that OctaneGuy sells at his shop and also Meguiars Last Touch for claying lube. For waxing I used Prima Epic Wax with blue microfiber applicators.

all waxed up:

Day Two Removing wax and wheel detail. Removing wax was more fun than applying it, that's all I gotta say
I used a blue microfiber towel to remove it and just like applying it, I did it moving the towel in straight motion. After removing all the wax I went ahead and removed all the blue tape and as I was doing that I kicked myself in the face because I could have applied a second coat of wax while I still had the tape on. Then on to the wheels: Wash, clay, and wax. After waxing the wheels inside and out they were put back on the car and I removed the outside wax an hour later.

dirty wheel:

dirty wheel vs. washed wheel:

new but not perfect:

Ronal makes the silver shields
:

waxed wheel:

half waxed, half after removing wax:

Day Three I removed the wheels to take off the wax from inside and while I was at it installed the mud flaps
Oh and the chrome exhaust tips were cleaned.
That's all folks!

I still have not done any interior detailing as of now mainly because I wouldn't know what to do if anything, I mean the car is new, everything looks good.
I also need to do the windows, any recommendations on cleaning the windows?? Thanks!
