Pine Pitch: 2, GooGone: 0.5

yeah, um... I parked under a tree the other day that was dripping pitch apparently. I finally got around to trying to remove it and googone only got rid of like 1/4 of it. there's several really, really thick splotches that the goo can't penetrate so I was thinking of "alternate" methods:

would LAVA (pumice) soap be too abrasive and leave a mark on my windshield?
leave goo gone on until it dries up, but with it dripping the way it does that would be difficult
Thermite would work but I don't have any on hand and would need to be careful I have a car after. And yes, I watch too much Myth Busters...

I had a similar, no actually completely different problem the other day. I had some new energy efficient windows installed last fall at my house. Had a heck of a time getting the adhesive from the labels off. Mind you the labels themselves came right off; it was the adhesive that wouldn't budge. Just last week, I thought to do a search on here. Someone (actually a few someones) said WD-40 would work. I was dubious, but it worked really well! I don't know about how it might / not do on pine pitch, but it worked great on 4-5 month-old adhesive from window labels that nothing else would help on.

Good luck to you!

Yep. I go the WD-40 route. It even takes off the white paint they spray the lines on the roads with.

Or you can try a clay bar. That thing takes off a lot of different stuff.

If it is on your windshield, use a straight utility razor blade and scrape it off.

I had blue paint spatters all over my door and the molding

Tried WD 40 to no avail,

I them tried a can of disk brake cleaner. I had some residue after getting the blue paint off. Washed the door and got my wax out. Thank GOD everything looks pretty good again.

The only thing that would take this blue paint off the plastic was carb cleaner. It cleaned up just fine.

Yea brake cleaner will destroy paint...

How about Hot water, to soften up the pitch?

Edit: After I posted I googled it... See a bunch of ideas at http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf697215.tip.htm Mayonnaise!?

You know why? Isopropyl alcohol in it. Thus, a cheap bottle of rubbing alcohol will absolutely do the trick.

My wife parks under a large pine, and I had about 25 little pools of sap GONE in about 30 minutes. Plus...no worries re: paint.
