WAX WAX WAX - I'm confused

I was told to get a thick coat of wax on this color. Even with all that wax on the car it still seams to pick up clear coat scratches with ease. One clear coat scratch I cleaned with Prima Finish and it even scratched the clear coat.
If you are getting scratches using these products, something is wrong. Are you using micro fiber products to apply and wipe off, keeping them clean. (Clean wool mit to wash). I've used these products and good micro fiber on a AB MINI, silver Z4, and now a Blue Water 335 and have had no marks what so ever.
