I just bought some Turtle Wax Bug & Tar remover here in California, and it came in a regular pump sprayer rather than the aerosol can I'm used to. I wonder if they got rid of the aerosol can (and associated propellants) in order to maximize the effectiveness of the product while minimizing the VOCs? I've only used it a few times, but it seems to work just fine - certainly as well as the aerosol can I bought many years ago.

Mine comes in a metal can with a flip-top lid. I think that I saw it on the shelf of my local Walgreens Drug Store the other day in a new plastic bottle.

Nice post and pix! For those in Socal, lookup Super Autobacs. It's like a super autozone/pep boys/walmart combined. They have a ton of stuff from car care to car parts. I did a promo thing with Meguiar's and c3 back in 2005 during their grand opening. From what I understand, that was modeled after the one in Japan.

Course I haven't been back since that grand opening.

Ah yes... good point! Don't worry though, we'll still offer the polymer-based shampoo too.

Zymol top of the line $4999 a jar.
Prima Puriimium Kenchan Limited Edishion Hydro $5999 (same Hydro as the one I have in my garage but in a 10layer crystal bottle with carbon fiber spray head ).

then they say "aaaahhh, i must go for the PuriKen"
I think I'd like to try the PuriKen Hydro! Sounds very intriguing. A carbon fiber spray head... now that's an idea!

Just make sure you keep the regular guy spray heads, I'm to cheap to be buying carbon fiber

I'm impressed that they have Zymol's premium level products and right next to Zymol's junky products. It's rare to see the premium level products in a store to begin with, not to mention along with the rest!

Fun post!

Heather
The Zymöl corner had on the top shelf a few premium waxes, one being called simply "Japon", which I found quite ridiculous, as well as expensive : 8,000 yen ! Sure, they have even more expensive products, but at least you supposedly get lifetime refills (or at least that's what I've been told) with that us$4,000 wax...
And as Kenchan said, it does sell here, just because it's expensive...

What surprises me is the lack of truly good quality premium stuff. I guess one of the reasons is those so-called "glass coatings" that they promote at dealerships?

And not to be off-topic too much, here's proof that Japan loves the MINI :
(notice the little yellow icon on the right ?)
Sorry, just seeing this. Thanks for the pictures!

I want this mitt with the MINI on it! I'd keep it in the garage just for display.

It just says you're buying the best turtles money can buy. Fresh out of the water, preserved taste in either paste or creme form. Try it today on American sandwiches (whatever that means... Never seen a non-American sandwich), American Bagles, American French Toast and American PotPies.

You see, now we know why turtle products are such inferior quality. We were all using it WRONG!
