Now you have my wondering, Mel. Maybe I didn't wax it right away. Two years and five months ago was a long time.

I have heard of this also, maybe it is to give the lubricant they use during install time to completely dry.

I've tried Megiar's and Clay Magic. I preferred the Megiar's as it was just a bit firmer. Easier to stick together.

Couldn't be !! One is blue, one is yellow, IIRC. And one tastes better than the other.

What about Griot's clay, ken.... a little too soft for you ? It looks like melting cheese on their website.

Interesting...and here the one thing I have found with Clay Magic is it is a bit too firm.

I like the Meg's blue clay the best too. Although I have a bunch of Four-Star that I got on sale for really cheap that works fine too!

Had heard from one installer you definitely DON'T want to clay a clearbra...could actually scratch it??? Recommendation was just spray wax.

For those with the hardtop and have the black top/rear spoiler instead of body colored, do you clay the black roof and rear spoiler too?

clay is fine but the bra is VERY soft and prone to swirl... probably why if you're
asking they think you dont know this (or think you dont know wat you're doing) and
best you not touch it too much.

I clay pretty much every smooth, non-porous surface on the car, because airborne contaminants will land & stick everywhere.

So best to just stick with polish and wax or just wax?

Guess I am wondering over time the way clay is needed for the paint, how do you keep the bra clean?

If you're claying hard enough to damage the clearbra, you're claying wayyyyy too hard. You just hold it firmly enough not to drop it and let it glide back and forth over the paint (or clearbra).

I've clayed my clearbra at least 4 times and it looks GREAT.

Good point, but still wondering why the installer would make a clear point to avoid claying.

He's an installer, not an OCDetailer.

i keep my clearbra clean by keeping it well waxed at
all times and QDing bugs off as soon as i get home.
every other time i QD, i use Griot's SprayOn wax on
there to keep it very nice and slick.
