First, I always clay first, so one more day added. Both our MINIs are DDs, so they would be exposed to the elements between applications of different products, and except for the wax coat non of them offer any protection. Plus if they do get something on them, it may mean going back a step or more, at least another wash, which I don't feel is the best thing to be doing between applications of these products.
When I work this way, I keep my pads in zip-lock bags, so they are ready to go the next day, or even 2 days later, should something come up that prevents being able to work the next day.
Another reason I do it this way, is because not all areas need the same treatment, the boot needs it all, the roof not so much, plus this way I can spread out some of the more tedious, to me, tasks, by doing a little at a time.

Oh, I forgot. Now I'm not 100% sure, but I think the "cure" time on BG is minutes, not hours. But I do plan on seeing what it is like if left for many hours before buffing off.

I leave mine in the garage while I'm doing my four day detailing. But yeah, if I wasn't able to do that, your method would be wise.

Even though I got off work early today, no BGing as it's just to hot out, not for the BG, but for me. Early mornings now are may plan this weekend.
I have been playing with BG on the arches and other plastic parts. I did this mostly to see if it would leave white marks. So far, after a few days of it being on there, no white marks
. So I'm thinking it will make a good dressing, you can just wipe it on/off while doing the paint, or even in between applications on the paint, and no need to worry about getting some on the paint.
If this works over the long term, I'll still use Black Wow to remove any Epic type of product, or restoring neglected trim.

I still see a use for BW. Like on the leading edges of my rear arches they are abraded from road crap, BG did nothing to get rid of the Grey/white/worn look, Black Wow does.

I'm hoping the mudflaps I put on a couple months ago alleviate some of that. Yes, BW will hide that better than anything else I've tried.

Blech... not what I wanted to hear, Mark.
Since I went two years without flaps, my rough area of trim is a little larger: The leading edge of the rear wheel trim like you say, and about the last foot or so of the side trim, right in front of that wheel trim.
On my next MINI, I want to get the JCW Aero Kit, with the painted side trim. How in the world do you keep that from getting dinged up ??

Sounds like what I have on my MINI, same areas. Painted Aero kit, I'd cover those area with clearbra material.
The mud flaps do help with road crap flying up on the doors and side panels

Yep, I think clearbra is about the only way to go with the painted trim.
I have noticed a little less crap on the doors when the roads are wet. So the flaps are at least somewhat functional. And I do like the looks of those front flaps, too.

Just received my order of Banana Gloss yesterday. WOW.. it sure stinks!
Glad to see someone else here thinks so! Thought it would smell as good as Hydro or Slick; but since it contains mineral spirits and petroleum naptha, perhaps that is not a possibility. Well, maybe their next batch might be "new and improved" with a better fragrance.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... no hazing.
That stuff really is easy to work with. It's very thin out of the bottle. Goes on evenly and thin. You don't have to worry about the trim. I didn't even tape. Easy off... used one starfish mitt for each MINI. Took less than 15 minutes to take off the wax.
