ok this is weird!! and more than a little annoying. i had herman in for service about a month ago and as a "bonus" they cleaned him for me. they must have pu a silicone based (or something like that) coating on the engine and now it is drying out and flaking off. looks like poop and i dont want to have to spend days scrapping it of every little part. any suggestions on how to get it off? just power washing it doesnt seem to work. HELP

i wish i could...infortunatly they did a REAL poor job servicing so i have cause quite a stink and even reported them to the local licencing board so i am guessing they wont be much help maybe i could get a voodoo doll and curse them

 

well step one...heavy duty engine degreaser....no luck...grrrr

 

The fact that it is starting to peel off may be the best thing that could happen. Whatever it is does not seem to be long lasting. Try this, park the car so when the bonnet the sun hits the engine bay and try and bake it off.

Won't hurt anything.

will do...have a feeling i will be using a plastic scrap thingy and spending hours and hours...i still i think i should curse them! poor poor herman
