Hey all,

I'm wondering if anyone here has had this happen or knows what to do. I had a friend who put sunscreen on and later got into my car, only to find out that the sunscreen from her legs had spread all over the bottom part of the seat. The black leather now has a lighter, pasty hue. I tried using a little water on a small part, but it didn't work. Any ideas?

 

My guess is to try leather cleaner, but I'm not expert on these matters, never having owned leather seats before (though I will have them on my soon to arrive MCS). Maybe someone with more experience will reply.

 

This just happened to me yesterday and I have the Carbon Punch Leather seats. I was wearing "Neutrogena Dri-Touch" sunscreen (#55 cream) on my arms and it left the sides of my seats and black door cards looking white-ish (almost powdery) where my skin touched it - very noticeable and bothersome. I wiped it all down with a damp sponge, then a bit of leather cleaner, and it seems to be fine so far. If it still looks white-ish when I check it out in the sun, I will try some 303 Protectant and/or Lexol Leather Conditioner (both of which I have on hand). The ironic part is that it wasn't that hot out and I wasn't even perspiring!

The unfortunate bottom line is to be wary of putting chemicals on your skin that might come in contact with/damage some interior bits on the car. It's obviously impossible to "police" everyone who gets in the car! I hate having to be so careful, but from what I've seen so far, the MINI's surfaces are quite delicate both on the interior and exterior (paint chips very easily as well).
