Egged.
Egged.

Suppose I'm not parking on the street anymore. And moving for that matter. Been trying to since someone got mugged in my back yard. I have too nice a car, and income for that matter, to be living in the City of Poughkeepsie.

At any rate, I walk out to my car and find egg bits frozen all over the drivers side. Grr. Stop at the self-wash on the way to work, get the meat out, and discover I've got scratches. They look radial, but may be where the egg (partially frozen??) initially hit. I've got BRG paint, but I can see white and the divots feel like a wall feels when you accidentally paint grit/dust/particulate to it.
I know this forum is full of folk who would go nuts at this right away, but I can't right now. My question is: what do I have to do?
I haven't filed a police report. By the time I found the scratches I had already wiped out the rest of the evidence. Plus I'm not sure what "snitching to the cops" would do for my popularity on the street. Might cause me more grief before I have the chance to move out. But I may have to anyway for the insurance, right?
Thats if I need to get it repainted professionally. Or is this something I can get fixed quickly and inexpensively? The scratches are small, but there are a lot of them. I'll get a picture posted today.
So... opinions?
Thanks!
ouch.
sorry to hear.
i would try some polish (scratchx on a foam pad) and some elbow grease
to see if you can get at least some of the surface scratch off.
i hate how eggs do dual stage damage... impact damage and chemical
etching damage.

Porkchop,
Just bring you car and high hopes to this Sunday's meet. I will bring good wax and my orbital buffer and we will see if I can get them out for you. Also buy some scratchx and we will use that too.

I would definately call the police & file a report. This way if others in your neighborhood are getting "hit" they'll provide more patrol.
Sorry this happened... people are so envious of MINI owners!

Mean people suck....that is JUST WRONG!!!
Why can't people just leave other people's stuff alone...I feel for you - haven't had a car egged in a long time but they got our house a few years back - just as bad - it's California Stucco which is a b$#ch to clean....
Looks like you've got an offer up above ^ to help clean up your MINI..

Thrown eggs leave tell-tale scratches. Once you've seen 'em you'll recognize them every time. Often they are so deep that only paint can fix them. I see you also live in a cold climate... you just might have to wait till spring. One thing for sure, if you can park in a different place... do it! Eggers are punks that are jealous of someone elses cars.
I'd canvas the local markets and tell the managers to look out for punks buying eggs. Store camera videos would be great.

Well considering that '07's don't have primer--it would have to be either sheet metal or particles.
Unfortunately, egg impacts generally don't come out, unless you have a very light colored paint--pepper white or pure silver where its harder to see it. Otherwise it's not even possible to minimize the effect. With a dark colored paint--the eggs serrated edges gouged the paint and removed it. Buffing and sanding won't fix something that has no paint.

OG- you wont need your grills if you are doing a detailing session in FL
with your darn potluck feast.
just roast them on the bonnets.
You could try getting some MINI BRG touchup paint & the Langka Repair Kit. The Langka kit worked nicely when I used it on some rock dings on my bonnet. I know it won't work as good on a metallic paint but it's worth a try
