Any reason not to wash when it's below 30 other than freezing the begeezus out of you? This is just so dirty it's killing me to see it that way.

I just did this in 38F temps;
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...&postcount=208

I say go for it if you can dry things.

i dont want water going into the nooks and seals and then expanding when it turns into ice...expecially doors. 20F-30F is a gray area, usually ok,
but above 30F is better so that it gives water some time to evaporate.

when temps are below 20F you put everything into temp
shock. heat from the car is not sufficient to let the water evaporate at all.
it just freezes onto watever it comes in contact with as soon as air hits it.

Yeah 22 degrees didn't work. So I wiped down the door jams and any other seal I could find that got wet. I'll just have to wait until tomorrow when it's supposed to be in the balmy upper 30's.

Unfortunately there isnt a single touch less carwash near me, which meant that I had to go to a normal carwash. It gave a marked improvement without inducing many swirls (not that it matter, my car needs a polish anyway).

I sprayed it down with hydro when I got back and it looks pretty darn good.

actually hand wash is probably better than touchless if you plan to
polish your car anyway in the spring.

My MINI is still clean since washing it yesterday. Roads are dry here for the most part.

actually, i was able to go out for an errand for the company so
stopped by the Route62 carwash. $15 exterior wash and
undercarriage. and my car did not appear to scrape the rails.

We hit 50 today!
Got the MINI nice and shiny. Neighbor of course looks at me like I'm nuts while she's shoveling snow from their driveway ...

It's going to be 50F and sunny here on Friday, so I have a date to wash, and put a sealant on my brother-in-laws 10 day old 07 PW/B, MCS. I don't now if there will be enough good weather to clay, but I will give it a go. He is going to be hands on learning so hopefully we can get that done.

Question is, use Zaino AIO, and Zaino clear seal, or the AIO, and Banana Gas, which I have enough of. Maybe I'll split the car down the middle and use both.

Split it down the middle and don't tell him which one you use on each side so you have a blind test!

I'll never understand why humans choose to live (year round) in places like Chicago... and Boston... and (fill in your favorite hot-in-the-summer-snowbound-in-the-winter place)... when there are nice temperate zones available...

that's right. there's no such thing as all good. there's always the bad
and for me, living in the chicago burbs made more sense than staying
in LA even if there's snow. you just appreciate the good days even more.

For me, I'm okay with traffic...because...

I hate SLUSH.

So it's a trade-off. I'd rather sit in an hour of traffic in the sunshine than get home in 15 minutes in the slush. I do kinda miss seasons though, to be honest.
