Nothing Quite Like Jet Black...
....when it's polished and waxed. Yeah, it's a PITA to keep clean, but no other color can reflect and shine quite like it.
These pics were taken today. Two weeks ago, I went at it with Prima Swirl on the LC White Pad. Followed that up with Prima Finish and two layers of Prima Epic.
I wasn't happy with the bonnet afterwards, so before I put the new stripes on the bonnet, I stripped it all down and went at with with Swirl and the ORANGE pad. What a difference ! Then I stripped off the polish where the new stripes were to go, installed the stripes, hit it again with Swirl and the orange pad, and then the Finish and Epic.

Thanks !
Yes, it is an excellent color and a lot of fun to show it off when you've detailed it. These pics don't even do it justice... the shine appears much deeper and more reflective in person.
Thanks again !

I'm seriously OCD too, thulchatt.
Lucky for me, this isn't the daily driver. Cover comes off on Friday night and goes back on Sunday night. Otherwise, I'd by QD'ing it every day, for sure.

Yeah, I like those too, Mel. One of the pics I took of the CR Cooper had ELEVEN of them. Sweet.
Okay, fished it out of my photobucket website:

Beauty
- Well done!
I guess this was the weekend of the big polishing job everywhere... Heather slipped a little something into the national public drinking water supply last week (303 windshield washer tabs?)...
JB does look FANTABULOUS when newly polished... and well cared for... but can so easily become Swirl City... at least Cool Blue metallic hides swirls... so I can be lazier than you and still look good...

Mini Mania has the license plate holder that uses your tow hook opening.

Thanks, All !
Pam, This JB Beauty doesn't get to live in the garage. The two Coopers are the daily commuters so they stay indoors. But don't worry, the new (older) JB MCSC has a nice cover to live under during the week and when he comes out to play on the weekends, he is quite content (and still clean).
GG, Windy got it right (thanks, Windy). That plate holder came from MINI Mania and was eeeeeeeasy to install. And that job, all together, took me about 7 hours. But I had to go back over the bonnet several times as the swirls and scratches there were pretty stubborn. And BTW, I'm going to go at the rear bumper again soon... noticed a few scratches I missed there. Not acceptable.
Blimey, yep, JB shows every swirl and from about 20 feet away. Hard to keep it looking really impressive. But I might just be the man for the job.

Question - quess I ask it here. I live in FL and it gets a little cold for car washing in the winter but what do all you people who live in snow do to keep your cars clean in winter? Doesn't it just drive you crazy to have all that slush splattering on them?
This IS a good place to ask that question because the author of the thread has OCDetailers Disorder and loves to keep his MINIs spotless.
Me... whenever the temps are above freezing, you can find me sticking to my routine of washing the cars once a week. When it's below freezing, and the cars are filthy from ice and chemicals they spread on the roads, I'll pull my car out of my heated garage, pour some bottled, distilled water on them, pull them back into the heated garage, and go at them with hydro and the waffle weave towel.
Okay, maybe I'm not the right person to ask as most people aren't crazy enough to wash their cars in 35 degree temps nor crazy enough to pay the bills to heat the garage.

Too cold for washing in Orlando???
When there is snow on the ground and I don't feel like hooking up a hose and having it freeze, it is often the do-it-yourself wash, or if I am desperate a quick trip through a touchless car wash.
