Edge 2000 Pads

Has anyone tried these? I'd be especially interested in hearing from some of our "pros"

http://www.autogeek.net/theedgebuffing.html

I like the no-backing-plate deal; it seems like it would make it nearly impossible to "slip" and damage the paint. I also understand I should not use the "egg-crate" style ones with a PC, correct?

not sure how you would wring it when you're washing the pads.
just mash it together?

wonder if the center of the pad would wear out causing a wobbly pad
after a while?

for a weekend detailer like me, the backing plate + pad works for me.

The Edge2000 system is a very clever design. I looked into carrying their products as well, but a student of mine showed that even though the hub is supposedly set deep inside the pad away from your paint--he showed me what looked like pigtail scratches in his paint from pressing too hard on the pad and gouging it.

So it's not impossible if you try.

The two most attractive features are ease of centering and the fact you can flip it over and have two sides. The pads do cost more however than single sided pads. However I think the Edge2000 system shines more with use of the RB than the PC. Centering really isn't much of an issue with the PC.

The problem about the Edge2000 system is that the foam densities are different from Meguiar's and Lake Country, so once again, you've got yet another system of pads to confuse yourself.

Why, thank you... but Edge2007 is even more clever... and just wait until Edge2008 comes out!

Sorry, couldn't resist!

It's all good - I'm living in mod land right now since I can't get my stupid finger wet for 3 more weeks.

At least I can still electrocute myself!
