"The Hokie Inspiration Fun Run" - In Virginia Tech's name we ride!

"We're all aware of the incident at Virginia Tech. It has affected everyone including people within our own MINI community. Our hearts go out to those affected.

To honor Virginia Tech and its continued school pride, we are dedicating the May 6th, 2007 Fun Run to the "Hokies" as a sign of solidarity and remembrance.

Our goal is to demonstrate that a single act of malice can not break our spirit but rather bond us as one.

We ask event participants to wear Virginia Tech colors (Maroon & Orange) or to show any creative display of VA Tech support.

In Virginia Tech’s name we ride."

"For those wanting to contribute more than their heart, money can be donated to the "Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund" sponsored by VA Tech at the URL below."

http://www.vt.edu/tragedy/memorial_fund.php

I'd like to thank Kevin "PORSCHE_DRIVING_CLUB" for the "Hokie" Inspriration... His thoughtfulness and contributions are greatly appreciated... Let's show our support and make "The Hokie Inspiration Fun Run" an event to remember...

Yes--I should be able to make this one. It's been a long time since my car has flocked with its own kind...

The weather is supposed to be beautiful - Sunny & 72... It looks as if we will have a large turnout... So far it looks as if we may approach 100 cars..

If you have a FRS or GMRS handheld radio please bring it with you... During the tour we will tune to channel 7, subchannel 21... The radios have about an 18 mile range... I will have a radio at the head of the column and the caboose will have a radio...

REMEMBER: Maroon & Orange are the colors of the day! Let's show our support for VT...

There will probably be a Ferrari or 2 and some other Euro cars... But the MINIs will be the cutest!!!

Gina is driving her MINI on the tour... Hmmm, I guess that means our 20 year old son drives the 993 C4S...

I think the mini group can show the Porsche group how these drive-n-dines should really work. We can give them a run for their money. Not only do Mini's know how to have a good time - everyone stops to see a line of cute mini's driving by . . .

I just couldn't wait... Gina and I ate at Roy's Place tonight after we ran the route and finalized the mileages...

I had #102 Hot Pastrami, Swiss Cheese, Cole Slaw, Russian Dressing on Rye Bread...

We hope to see as many as possible on Sunday... Gina has already met a lot of you but this will be my first run with you.. I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone...

You say ya'll are meeting 9:30-11, but I live right here in Rockville (less than 3 miles away from starting point) and was wondering what time is a good time to get there since it's a 1 1/2 hr. gap (I haven't signed up yet, but may be able to go). Thanks!
p.s. I'm a little nervous with all those Porsches! MINIS still rule!!!

Don't worry about the Porsches... Javagirl will keep them in line... I would get there between 10-10:30.... I'll start rounding up the Porsche owners for the run around 10:30... It takes time to get them organized... The MINI group has their act together!!! See you Sunday

Looks like I won't be able to make it; I realized I scheduled myself for a final exam bright 'n early Sunday morning

What time do you plan to be at Roy's? Maybe I'll meet up there afterwards for some post-exam vittles... (there, I turned it into something positive! )

If anyone wants some post lunch twisties, I'll take them on a short sampling of the June 3rd Scenic Maryland Tour... We can do about a third of the tour since that's a 4 hour tour (with breaks)... I think you will find it to be a blast...

Well I really wanted to make this run however, it does not seem that I will. My car is still up on jack stands. The JCW/Alta suspension is in but I need more energy to change the frunt brakes. O well may be next time.

Anyone coming have a Garmin NUVI? And if you have one, do you want the MINI files for it? I got them off the internet, a few cars and some splash screens. Bring an SD memory card along and I'll glad copy the files for yah.

I won't be able to make a run. But again, I will join you all at the starting point in the morning.
Me and my dad in my Mini should be there around 10am for some coffee and Minis.

Hey guys, looking forward to the drive tomorrow! To go along with the
"The Hokie Inspiration Fun Run" - In Virginia Tech's name we ride, I have made up some bumpster stickers (I tried for window clings, but my design didn't meet crisp worthiness and wasn't going to work out, so stickers it is)! So before the drive I'll hand them out - look for the yellow mini and a turkey headed chick :0)
