how about a MINI dyno day w/ a local shop? I'd be interested in seeing how much my near-stock MCS is producing

It distresses me that you keep insisting that you were overcharged at Lucky Dog. John was being conscientious in putting on a smaller belt. Others who advertise pulley installs (at significantly higher charge) and often don't change the belt are doing their clients a great disservice and just inviting performance problems.

I put the onus on you for not discussing with John the details of your pulley install. Educated consumer issue - with plenty of researchable information here on NAM

Bring parts and accessories of questionable quality - and you'll find that John will refuse to install them. He always always always has your best interest in mind.

Claiming you were overcharged just makes you look foolish to the rest of the membership who know otherwise

Just my opinion

Yeah, the 4th is sorta kinda becoming a tradition, but for me at least, change is always good. If we stay with the old plan, of course our house is open. Generally, we order out for food as I live near lots of restaurants. We had pizza delivered if I remember correctly.
New ideas for rallys are great and I especially like the cherry picking idea
Because of the size the events can become, member participation is always helpful in organizing. Maxi, take an event and run with it!

yeah, delete it please, I did. As for between you and John, I disagree, but it's not a discussion for this thread.

event

After the Dragon I will try to put together a trip to the BMW/MINI VDC (vehicle distribution center) facility. No promises - but there is a good chance I can arrange it.

Of course it depends on interest.

BMW went there in 2004 on a Saturday. You need to leave pretty early. We rented a bus from Columbia. Pretty interesting but since 9/11 the outdoor portion was very limited. I don't know how different it is now. Of course you know it's also the Rolls Royce distribution center.

It seems like there is a possibility to make the Rally event happen.
We have a few members that have know how.
:Pentagonian and Steven.

Should we start new threads for the Rally and other events?
Jay..Jay.. where is Jay....

I saw the photos from 2004 - Rolls Royce would be icing on the cake. Going by bus is do-able. I can probably arrange some sponsorship for the event.
But no promises - likely - but no promises

We contacted NA to get us in. They don't normally have tours in NJ though, although the Oxnard facility have tours almost every year.

Also, I'd like to set up another drive out to the Family Drive-In out in Stephens City, Va. when they open back up for the season.

For those that weren't there, we started out at the Apple House restaurant out by Front Royal, than a short cruise down I-66, to a small drive on some twisties, ending at the drive-in.

I like the camping idea but Gina needs a 5-Star tent!!!

Anyone interested in another MINI/Porsche Drive & Dine??? I've charted out some new routes for the spring... If this winter stays mild maybe we can do one sooner...

Let me know and I'll get with Gina and we'll put something together...

Where oh Where is Jay? You ask???

Howdy Ya'll, we just got back from vacation! So that is where I have been hiding Jay!!

We had a good time, got to see our "neice" (our best friend's new baby) and just hang out with some good friends. And of course, we were in Gainesville, Fl...So we got to see some GATORS kick some BUCKEYE ****!!!

So we are back now. And here is the plan.. If YOU want to see an event happen, PM me or Jay and let us know. We can clear it on the calendar and get some things set up for you. But PLEASE know that WE aren't going to do the planning of the event that you want to see. This is just what the coordinator doesn't do! We can help you all we can, but I want to see you all make some great plans! So got some ideas, let me know and we can get some stuff on the books! \
No, I haven't put things as far away as the 4th parades because I just got the ability to go that far into this year on the calendar. Also I don't want to put things up there that aren't "planned" yet! Don't want to put anyone on the spot to do something that they didn't want to plan!

There are some really great sounding ideas you all have come up with. So PM me or Jay and we can get the MINI rolling!

newbie ideas

Hi guys, as a newbie to the club and to MINIs (and in some ways to the hobby/obsession with driving), I vote for the driving group lesson.

The drive and dine idea sounds great too - two of my favorite things!

Lastly, hoping to meet you all at the Lucky Dog event next month if not before!

This is the good one

From Helix13, 01/09/07.
Once in a generation there occurs an event so epic, that it changes the course of humanity. Its impact is so profound it reverberates around the globe. On Thursday May 3rd , 2007, such an event shall take place...

Introducing MINICup3

The wide-open road will be the canvas for the 2007 MINICup3. This event will be held in conjunction with MINIs on the Dragon 2007, a celebration of all things MINI. You will match your wits against all comers in a no-holes-barred rally from One Helix Plaza in beautiful north Philadelphia, to a secret checkpoint near the Tail of the Dragon in the beautiful Smokey Mountains. This one-day, six hundred mile rally will be a contest of driving skill and stamina. It will test the participant's ability to efficiently road trip from point to point, collecting precious goods and information, without breaking the rules of the road. Points will be awarded for successful route navigation, efficiency of time, and data/goods collection. Points will be deducted for missed checkpoints, and traffic violations. He or she who collects the most points and checks in at the destination will be awarded the coveted MINICup3, as well as bragging rights as the greatest road-tripper ever.

The rally begins at 8:00 AM on Thursday, May 3rd, where participants' cars will be lined up Le Mans style. All drivers (and hopefully teammate-navigators) will receive a sealed envelope with a triptych. At the sound of the starting bell, the envelopes will be un-sealed revealing the route and challenges for the MINICup3. The final check-in location will be revealed in the Triptych, where drivers will be checked in as they arrive. Then, on Thursday night, there will be an awards party and ceremony for all of the participants, crowning the new MINICup3 Champion. All participants will receive a gift packet, as well as rally insignia for their MINIs. The cost to participate is $25 per car early registration until Monday, April 2nd, or $40 up to and at the event.

For more information, please contact Helix Minisports, at 215 739 8800 or email sales@helix13.com.

May the best rallier win.

This should be fun, eventhough they will start in PA. DCMM who's interesting in Rallying should check this out.

May 3rd? This is during the Dragon, so the interest may be slight....most of us will already be down south.

Read again - The end is near the Dragon, so you'll be there Thursday night!

It would be great for us that can't/won't leave earlier than Thursday!
