I'm wondering if the engine dampers are any help in preventing this issue?
I think it would depend on whether the leaking mounts are a design flaw or a quality-control issue.
If the design is marginal, than the extra damping from the engine damper might be enough to prevent the leaking.
But if it's a quality control issue, it's possible that the leaking mounts would have begun leaking regardless of whether or not an additional damper were installed.
It looks to me like you got sprayed with something.
Coolant overflow? Puddle?
It's the fluid leaking out of the passenger-side engine mount on a 2005-2006 MINI. Common enough that it's easily recognizable, but not common enough for BMW to issue a recall.

Good post - they're not recalling them, but at least they're making their techs aware of the problem. I didn't realize that ALL of the new MINIs were subject to this - I only seem to hear about it on the 2005+ models where they redesigned the passenger-side mount bracket. I guess that also makes sense if the TSB didn't come out until August of 2006.
I wonder if the replacement part in the TSB is identical to the original part, or if they're developed a replacement for the mount?
nope, I'm at ~57,000 miles. I don't have a warranty anymore.

It's the oil leaking from the engine mount. From what I hear they are supposed to be engineered so they shouldn't leak. Mine however did. It's relatively recent too. It wasn't there when I changed my oil at 53,000.

If you have a decent jack the swap should be realatively easy, the part well it will cost what a BMW parts costs. Or its 30min to an hour in labor.
How do you remove that motor mount? I tried to get it out of the way during a recent pulley swap, so I would have more room to get my fat paws at the rear tensioner bolts.
I saw the bolt at the rear of the mount, but couldn't get it to budge and didn't want to force it. I'm assuming there's another bolt that comes up from the underside of the mount, but I didn't investigate that one since I couldn't get the upper one off anyway.
