EErrrkkkk.....

On the way back from NJ, I followed a big truck. They drop tons of gravel (rock) right in front of my Mini @ 75 mph.
It was like running through sand storm.
The result: uncountable tiny chips on the windshield and hood, not to mention 2 big ones on the hood and other 2 on the windshield.

Really not my day.

 

I feel your pain. The combination of dust, wind, and sunlight in Vegas might as well be sandpaper on the Mini. Not to mention the thousands of gravel and gypsum trucks on the roads every day (got the windshield chipped about a minute and a half after leaving the dealer on the first day... Arrgggg!). When I move out of here in January I'm considering a replacement windshield just for some restored visibility. The windshields on both my Mini and Jeep look like they have been sandblasted. Suck!

 

I'm going to Hampton, VA this weekend. I will wait until I come back to change the windshield. (there is also a 8 inches crack on my windshield as well).
Oh by the way, my dealer (Towson) doesn't have my touch-up paint in stock.

 

In Virginia you report the incident to the State Police and they will sit out side the gates of the offending company or contractor or construction site and ticket the next vehicle (truck) that leaves - regardless of whether or not they were the offender. Rather Jeffersonian but I doubt he had part in drafting this law

 

on the dulles toll road yesterday and truck dropped what looked to me like a lugnut. took a chunk of paint off my hood and dented the chrome trim around my windshield.

i was soooo pissed. i was on my way home from getting my new rims installed.
