Tip One For The Troops event TODAY (Sat, Sept. 9)
Hey all,
A friend of mine (non-MINI owner) brought this event to my attention, as she is involved in helping to organize it. I promised I'd help raise awareness of it, so here goes!
This is a charitable event supporting The Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) - their website is www.iava.org.
There will be 3 live bands - Easy Company from 4-6pm, Bandazian from 7 to 9pm, and Influence of Music from 10 to midnight.
The event is this afternoon & evening on the waterfront in Southwest DC. Suggested contribution for the cause is $10, and there are decent drink specials too ($5 top-shelf sunset margaritas, $3.50 for Coronas).
Anyway, take a look at the flyer, and the weblog.
If you didn't have anything to do today, now you do!
NOTE: I'm not sure I'll make it myself... but I wanted other people to know about it too. After all, it's for a good cause! No matter what you feel about the reasons for the Afghanistan and Iraq wars (save the political discussion - not permitted on NAM), supporting the troops who put themselves in harms way (and were not involved in the decision to go) is a universal cause that everyone can support!
