Count us in. What could be better. Saturday, late March, nice roads (after you get off I95), wine tasting, and, best of all, meeting up with other MINIs.

One does not quit having fun because one grows old; one grows old because one quits having fun. Woo-Woo.

Motor On. Safely.

My newest niece is being Baptized on this day...so I will have to miss out on this one. Three times in a row I have had a conflict!

We're leaving form Southern Maryland via the Nice bridge, Fredericksburg bypass to the south and then 208, 522, 618 to the winery. I'll have my radio on the MINI channel. My only problem there is that I don't have enough sub-channels. I guess I'll have to upgrade my radios. See you all there. Motor On, safely.

I have an address for the winery, but it gives a road name instead of a route #. Isn't it on 618? Once I get down to the area, there should be signs. Virginia is great about leading you to their vineyards.

If I understand correctly, radios that don't have sub-channels can listen to the chatter on all sub-channels on a channel by selecting the main channel, but can only transmit on the main channel, not on any of the sub-channels.

Translated into English, that means if everyone is talking on channel 7, sub 21, you can tune your radio to channel 7, and hear what's going on (keep in mind though that you'll also be hearing the rest of the sub-channels on 7 also). If you transmit though, people won't be able to hear you on sub-channel 21.

Or, just go and get some new radios!!

Not for sure yet if I'm going, but if I do, I'm in for a caravan!

I should know a bit later this week if I'm going or not.

Darn it! We will not be going now. My wife made an appt. for the MINI on that day and we will not be able to do it any other time. We will be in Glen Burnie all day.

Last time they met at a Burger King about 40 mins away, because it was close to the freeways, and made for a nice Mini caravan to the vineyard.

I'll see what they're doing and post it here, as well as post a meeting place for the NOVA/MD/DC crew to meet on the way down if they'd like. I should have it by tomorrow.

RCM is meeting at Bruster's Ice Cream, Richmond, at 9:30am.

From the Waffle House in Dumfries, VA right off of I-95, exit 152b. We'll head down 95 from Waffle House to Bruster's.

Waffle House to Bruster's is 90 minutes with no traffic at legal speeds.

To get to Bruster's at 9:30, we need to leave by 8. So I will be there about 7am. Can't go to waffle house and not have a waffle, eh? So for those of you not eating, I/we are departing Waffle House promptly at 8am.

So without the confusing map/hyperlinks:
8pm depart waffle house, arrive RCM rendevous point at 9:30, proceed to Cooper Vineyards, arrive ~ 10:30-11am. Depart time is whenever you get bored.

And don't forget to pre-register on the cooper vineyards website for $10 per person, or it's $15 at the door.

Oooh.... you suuure you want to go to that particular Waffle House? Granted, I haven't been to that one in about 2 years, but last time I was there, it was naaaaaaaaasty. And I realize that WH isn't exactly a 5 star establishment, but this place was disgusting even by WH standards. For example: there were flies everywhere, tables were *all* filthy, it looked like the kitchen equipment hadn't been cleaned in years, etc.

Hmm, tell you what though, I'll 'take one for the team' and drop by there tonight to see how it is.

Watch this space for the 'review'!

I thought fly's and nastyness were part of the sign of a good waffle house/dinner.

Paul, isn't this the one we stopped at when we came back from the vineyards last year?

Well, yes! But this one really went above and beyond the call of duty!

Nope! We went to one of the WHs in or near Fredericksburg, around exit 130, give or take.

But wait!! I'm getting a news bulletin from 'The Front'!!!....

Ok, my super-secret-stealth-MINI driving-ninja-pirate Recon Team Yellow has reported back from the front lines of Operation Awful Waffle that the WH on exit 152B is good! I repeat, WH exit 152B is GOOD!!!!

*Ahem* I just came back from there, and it's not nearly as bad as I remember! So if you want to stop at 152B, it's all good. Or if you would like to go further down, that works too!

I choose the first one down I95 because that should be the first 'most available' spot for anyone in the metro area to meet up... And anywhere there's a Waffle-House, there's a gas station nearby, so anyone who needs can fuel up on food and petrol for a fine day of motoring and Vino.
