Snow storm damage

no...the MINIs are safe in our garage, but our Subaru may be damaged. It's under a pole tent that's been crushed by snow and huge tree branches . The windsheild may be crushed....we're still digging the car out...
The cedar tree in our front yard has lost a half dozen major branches, one of which popped our cable right off the side of the house.
Power's out, but our permanent generator is at least running the furnaces, the fridge, microwave and this computer.
How have the rest of you fared?

No major problems out here in Chantilly. Dug out the driveway this morning. I'd say 10 inches plus.

Still have power, haven't seen a snow plow yet. Can't tell if there is much damage to the trees outside. All of our power lines are under ground out here so unless some nit-wit runs into a junction box (highly likely) we should be ok.

lots of big branches down.

directv was out til i threw a couple of snowballs at the dish
to clear the snow off the LNBs.

10+" in the driveway, 14" on the lawn and on top of the rover.

took the mini out for a spin after clearing the driveway.
10" present no challenge to the snow tyres!!

hope your subie survived okay. they're great snow vehicles.

Eww...

Good luck with the Subaru. I spent a good 2hrs clearing our driveway. Using both the snowblower and alot of shoveling power.

Sorry sorry about the damage but at least you had a generator ... Isabel taught a lot of us to buy generators

Chows love the snow ... From 730 or so. Notice the older red female watching her stupid young male roomie playing in the white stuff!

Ouch, sorry to hear about your damage. After I pick up my MINI this coming week, our Subaru too will be outside fending for itself while the MINIs stay nice and warm in the garage. Glad you have the generator.

well, i went out at 10am to shovel the driveway, and well, the snow was pretty much gone until the snow plow went by and piled some little stuff up. We may have 4-5 inches here.

sorry to hear about the subaru.....but bonus on the generator.

Sorry about the Subaru Katie but glad to hear everyone is safe and warm. We had several partial branches come down from the Dogwood in front - You can see them in one of the pics attached of our Maine Coon, Puddles.

In my Dad's complex a tree came down right on top of a parked car!

We we lost power from 2am last night until about 6pm tonight. it was getting REALLY cold in the house and we were dealing with the fishtanks. We had just thought of jerryrigging a car battery with an invertor to get some heat to fishtanks, but when supplies were bought the power came on. All the fish made it (thankfully, it was getting cold in their tanks) and we all thawing out here. Got about 8" and no damage to the townhome or the cars other than power lose.

Hope Su is OK

I had a 78 DL I bought new, kept for 7-8 years. Loved that car.

Had about 8 inches here. No Power from the wee hours till mid afternoon Sunday. But, my other (counterfeit) MINI got to come out to play.

We had 21" here in rural Clarksville (between Columbia & Olney) also. We have a 3/8 mile self-maintained dirt driveway so I had to spent several hours driving Kub (our Mini's orange cousin -- a Kubota diesel tractor). Kub's predecessor is pictured in similar circumstances 3 years ago:

All is well in Arlington. Sorry about the Subaru!!

Was in Bowie at a friends all day Saturday doing a movie marathon. He drove me home about midnight. At that time, roads were pretty good and it was just starting to snow really really hard. There was a lot more snow in VA than in MD.

Woke up Sunday morning with about eight inches.

Days like Sunday are when I am glad we still have the aging 4 wheel drive Ford Bronco! Michael got to work in it fine and I took his MINI this morning with no problems

The Subaru's windshield is intact, therefore drivable..but as Paul pulled it out from under the collapsed pole tent, it dug a deep gouge/dent down the entire length of the hood. Apparently, the car was holding up the ruins of the tent, cuz without the Subie's support, the whole thing just crashed to the ground
Very dramatic, and a real PITA to clean up, which we'll do once the snow's gone.....
We got power back yesterday at about 4 PM, but there are still individual houses in the nabe without. Tree branches are down everywhere and in some cases, whole trees. We didn't have this much damage after 2 hurricanes!
Man, I can't wait til winter's gone!
Glad everyone else is ok

I have had no power since Sunday morning which means no heat, no electricity, no running water. And still none of that. But we went out and got a generator and kersone heater to run some power and keep some heat. Hopefully power will be back up and then I'll post some pictures I have of all the snow.

Hahaha, you crack me up.

I meant to mention how low that tree was hanging too:

http://www.mappage.net/cmine/display...cat=7&pos=-284

That tree is normally no where near my vehicles... About 8-9 ft up at least, above the sidewalk. As soon as I was done taking the pic, I lifted the branch that was touching the Batmini & shook the crap out of it. Lightened, it lifted back up to it's normal position. Hopefully there's no gouges.

Sorry to hear about the 'buru Katie & Paul. That really sucks. That would be seperate from any home-owners claim you might make, eh?

Sorry to hear about the Subaru, that's always a hassle, never mind losing the winter-friendly vehicle of the household. My non-MINI was hit by joyriders a few years ago and it was in the shop for a month.

No damage here from the storm, though, nearby, I did see the whole back seat area of an Altima smashed in by a HUGE tree branch.

Power went off About 2 AM Sunday morning, just came back on about a hour ago. A tree went down during the storm and took out a power line and two poles.

This morning was *freezing*!! It was about 50 degrees in my apartment when I left for work!! And no hot water to be had. Luckily though, there's a gym inside my office.

But aside from losing the contents of my freezer and most of my fridge, I came out of it alright!! And I think that the contents will be covered via insurance.

(Sorry to hear about the Subaru Katie!)

-Paul!

oh. And second pic is supposed to illustrate how high up off the car the branches normally are.
