Thanks for the list! I'll probably drop by the FedEx field event and watch for a bit.

MINI's will be running in the first two heats of the day. First car off will be at 0900, if all goes well. The first heat has G Stock (Cooper S) and H Stock (Cooper) running and the second heat are the STS and STX classes. Cooper S's that run in the STX class have some modifications, non-stock intake, suspension modifications, brake mods, but pulley mods go into one of the SM (Street Modified) classes. So far there are 25 drivers in 20 different MINI's.

Can someone give me a quick rundown on track days as opposed to autocross? I'm an SCCA/BMWCCA member (newly), but have no desire to drive my Coopers in a parking lot. My '02 MCS is modded well into SM, so no go there, and the other is my wife's daily driver.

I would love to get involved in driving on a track--competitive or just for fun--but have no idea how to get started.

Try a Friday at the Track (FATT) at Summit Point ($225 typically). They may have some openings for late November. This is lapping the main circuit with an instructor. See:

A lot of area clubs organize their own events, and they're very similar. Northern Virginia Corvette Club is organizing one Nov 19. It's $150. I've sent in an application. They ran a great school in August and accept non-Corvettes and non-members:

National Capital Chapter of BMW CCA has one one this weekend. I have no idea is there is space:

It's a great hobby. Personally, though, I think autocrossing is more challenging.

Good luck.
