Service vs. Sales?

Could you be talking about service (where there's a Brad as the Service Manager in Sterling) or Sales (where Mike is the Sales Manager at Sterling). Since you're referencing flywheel, clutch, etc... perhaps you're focused on service whereas I think this thread is talking about getting a good deal through the sales managers... Just my $.02 :impatient

Facts on Towson

Just to clarify: I spoke with Brad at Towson MINI today. The details are thus: ALL cars on the lot have ProForm clear protective covering applied, the security system added, and again, one other dealer-installed option added for a total of $1200 (actually, that was the total they quoted 6 weeks ago, I didn't confirm this is still the amt charged).

He indicated that NO cars ordered or purchased from in-transit stock are required to get these installed (during my visit, I was told that cars ordered from scratch weren't required to get this, but that cars purchased from stock in-transit would require it).

As these are terms I can live with, while on the phone I put a deposit down on an MCS already awaiting transport, and hope to have it in a couple of weeks. Thanks MBABISCHKIN for motivating me to call back to Towson - Brad better be good to you, since the sale is a direct result of your followup with him. I owe you too, as otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to get my first color choice of electric blue. Hope to be joining DCMM now that I'll be leaving the ranks of "wannabes" and finally joining the very friendly MINI owners I've met and grilled over the past six months.

-Matt

Glad you got it resolved

I just knew that was a bunch of crap.

I can believe that the throw stuff on their cars on the lot but think about this. TOWSON has cars just sitting there that no one wants. WHY? Because they got those $1200 worth of options no one wants.

Maybe they could sell them to all those people paying surcharges in CA!

You might want to take advantage of what others have done and NOT order and "dealer" installed accesories until after the car arrives. That way you can get 10% of the parts and Labor ... which, for example, on $850 installed MINI driving lights comes to $85 .., a good discount. Don't let them gouge you on the installation prices!

Thanks for the advice. Brad did offer that he'd give DCMM members the discount on accessories even before the car gets to the dealer. I had asked him about the aerokit, and he said it can be done faster at the port of entry than if I wait until the car gets to his lot. Now on to weighing the merit of other very-expensive add-ons - an MC at Sterling listed the installed price of the Sportlink together with a bike rack at $1200. There's something wrong about paying more for a rack than for the bike itself.

Hehe, that depends upon the price of the bike! I know people who drop $2K - $5K on a bike and thats cheap!
