DCMM Discount at Sterling is a Myth

I probably shouldn't have gone to the dealer for an alignment, but I did, partly because they got me an appointment in two days and told me at the time I made the appointment that it would be "about $85".

They did the work right away, but when the bill came to $140 for the 45 minutes I was there, I was surprised and asked about the DCMM discount. The cashier claimed no knowledge of it and asked the SA. His response was $140 was less than the "normal" price of $200 so there would be no discount.

Considering toe is all that can be adjusted and that they spent less than an hour on the work, $140 is pretty high. That, along with the "normal price is $200" comment and their refusal to honor the DCMM discount will make me think twice about having any non-covered work on either of my MINIs done at Sterling in the future.

I can't speak to the cost of the alignment, but from what I understand, the DCMM discount only applies to parts and accessories. Since an alignment is effectively just service (not really any additional or replacement parts involved), I don't think a DCMM discount would have applied anyway.

Yep - the discount only applies to parts, accessories, and service according to what I've seen posted..

Did you happen to get the name of the person who "quoted" you the cheaper rate? I would bet if you stuck with it, they would have backed down and given it to you for what your were quoted... If it were me, at that point I would have asked to speak to a higher authority. Make enough stink, and things usually turn around in YOUR favor...

I believe the original post said "parts and labor" but I can't find it now.

The DCMM website says:

"10% off parts and service at Tate MINI and MINI of Sterling."

My understanding has always been 10% off parts and labor at the three area dearerships.

I was told parts and labor by Jim Bartanowicz when this was finally setup for us last year...

If they aren't honoring it I want to know, and I will have a conversation with Sterling over what's going on...

I would prefer anybody who has been denied the discount to please contact me privately either via e-mail or PM, and when I return from California, I'll head down to Sterling and find out what's going on...
