I Confused BMW of Sterling

HaHaHa I confused everyone at the BMW of Sterling Dealership! HaHaHa I asked them a question about the MINI and here is the question! I have a MC with CVT Automatic Trans.

When I'm rolling and have some speed and put the car in Nuetral and press the pedal down I have no raise in rpms. The rpms don't do anything at all, nothing. Is it supposed to do this?

I even took a mechanic for a ride and showed him what I meant! He didn't know why! They ended of having to call MINI and asking them if something was wrong or if it was normal! And they found out it is normal! I thought it was just funny that they didn't know. But I'm glad they took the time to call and figure it out before they said they didn't know and didn't worry about it!

Using their resources isn't a bad thing! YAY for them!

Do you have OBC? if so, what does the Const.ECON show? Const.MPH ?

Are you familiar with the "ODO system tests"? under test 19, 7.2(?) your odometer can read like a digital tach display... I wonder if it would accurately show your engine RPMs while the tranny is coasting.

Those numbers come from the engine control computer. While it knows that the car isn't in gear, it does have to know the RPM to run the fuel injection.
