The SCCA folks hosted a drivers school at Grove Stadium in Frederick under the tutelage of Brian Garfield.

About 22% of the cars (4 out of 18) were Minis and DCMM was well represented.

The format was to have half the participants driving while the other half was reseting spilled cones. During my time on the "grassy knoll" I managed to grab some action photos which can be seen here.

One of the better known students is seen here, hard at work:

Two of the cars were replicas of the classic snake -- they sounded SWEET!

It may just turn in to a great battle John. I spend both days at the school learning the ropes of the timing equipment and application and enjoying watching Ms. MoonPie and the rest of the students improving with each run. At the end of the day a challenge was put before me. I would get one run to see if I could beat her best of the day. Not only was it to be my one and only run but Craig and Brian Garfield sat in the back of the Mini and wifey sat up front. Along with the pressure of just one shot, at least 400-500 pounds of extra weight I also had to contend with Craig and Brian yelling at me the entire time!!! It was great fun and I will admit that while my raw time bested Carolyn's I did hit one cone. With the penalty she beat me

During level 2 on Sunday Carolyns times continued to drop. Thankfully at the end of the day I was given a chance to run again - This time with no additional weight but the same amount of pressure. A single chance to beat her... I actually got a practice run because timing did not work the first time around. I was actually bummed because I could tell my first run was a winner. Thankfully I put together another good run and beat her.

Not that it is about winning, and I would be proud to lose to my lovely wife. But.... It still felt good to win

Great pictures Tom - thanks!!

And Miller Time - if Mike were back there - he'd be kicking some butt.... And guess what? He FINALLY took those numbers off Scooter!!

Seriously though, I'm happy ALL of you are having a blast. We love hearing about it and seeing the pixs...

Chow!

Tom - thanks for the pictures! I did capture two .AVI's of Carolyn's MINI doing the morning and then afternoon courses. Any way to get those to you to post (~10Meg each)? Also, thanks for the MINI mod pointers during the tech inspection.

All - Barbara and I had a lot of fun, learned a lot, and really enjoyed the instructors and other students. Couldn't schedule it but we both wish we could have come back on Sunday for the second course - something to look forward to! Highly recommend this course to any MINI owner.
