Jefferson 500 to return to Summit Point

I just saw today that Brian Redman is bringing back the Jefferson 500 Vintage
Racing weekend to Summit Point the 1st weekend in May. It was cancelled
last year for various reasons but has been around for at least 10-12 years.
2009 is the 40th anniversary of Summit Point so I hope that it will come off.
I have gone to many of these over the years and they are very much a fun
time, no fender banging but some great cars for sure. Might be something
to do as a group. Just a thought.

This one was already on my schedule! Was sorry they canceled last year. This a great opportunity to see good vintage racing without having to travel too far. This would make a great day trip/run. I'm sure there will be some vintage Minis tearing up the track.

Also, the old timers from Marlboro race track are having their reunion as part of the weekend festivities. For you young whipersnappers, there was a great little road course down at Marlboro back in the 50's and 60's. All the same big name drivers, like Brian Redman and Jackie Stewart, that drove at VIR, Watkins Glen, Lime Rock, Sebring, etc. drove at Marlboro. They had some great races there.

For those folks not going to MOTD, this is a great substitute event.

Trivia: Paul Newman went to driver's school at Summit Point to get his novice license.

My uncle used to race motorcycles (Triumphs mostly) down at Marlboro until he flew off a turn and wrapped himself around a tree in the mid-60's. He was in traction for six months.
