Has he seen "The Italian Job" remake? That should quell any "chick car" comments.

"He laughed and called it a 'chick car.'"

Correct! And tons of chicks are attracted to it!

I traded a well built Fox body 'vert for MINICHI and haven't looked back. As for chick car, the wifey is much happier this one doesn't leak oil, stall at red lights, smell like gas and sound like a Harley. All the things, btw, I loved about that 'stang. ;-)

Everybody is attracted to the MINI, only my Mustang club and Hooters girls were attracted to the 'stag. Hmmm...maybe I should get another! ;-)

Just when I thought that people noticing my car was over, today, a woman in the car next to me at a light said to me that my car was cute, and asked me the gas mileage. She was all smiles.

Quite frankly, anyone that breaks my b@lls about anything isn't worth my time.

Well the Hubby spent last weekend with a few friends who all own 2007 and 2008 Shelby GT500s. They were at VIR (Virginia International Raceway) having a blast. All this weekend they've been back and forth on their manly Mustang and GT500 forums discussing taking my Mini next time. How's that for a chick car.

Now in all honesty I have to admit that I've plastered it with Hibiscus flower stickers in protest. I don't think that has changed their minds. So if you see a chick Mini at VIR in the next few weeks plastered with Hibicus flowers it my Hubby and his friends.

I'm surprised more "Chicks" haven't joined in here to ask "What's wrong with it being a chick car ? "

Coming from the older days when "guys" had fast cars and girls, well, they had either a mustang or VW Cabrio. I find it fascinating that so many of you young ladies out there are so into your MINIs and modding, that's cool

Kind of reminds me of a time many years ago when I often wondered "Why do girls get all giggly and goofy over male pilots ?" Then I was at a classic fly-in and this gorgeous brunette (female ) hopped out of a PT-19 in a leather jacket, pulled off her flying helmet and goggles and let her hair drop out (like a hollywood moment - no kidding) and then I knew same goes for cool chicks in cool MINIs

BTW- Leona really is a "cool chick" (never mind the Honda CR-V) when we were younger, unlike the Mustang/VW girls, she drove a '67 Cougar. She'll have a MC as soon as we can swing it.

Okay, I'm a chick!!!

What's wrong with the Mini being a chick car? NOTHING!!! Especially when I do actually play with the guys in the Mustangs. I have to laugh at a few Mustang guys that have wanted to play with me at lights over the past year of my owning my Mini. I guess having SHELBY JR. in chromed out badging on the back window helps. Oh yeah, the Cobra GT500 hat displayed in the rear deck works well as a fishing hook I believe.

Did that year have the sequential turn signals? Liked those. My Grandfather had a late 60's cougar, neat car.

Yes ! 67-68 had a mechincal system, 69-73 used a circuit. The mechanical always performed better than the later ones. The handling of the 67-68 was pretty lousy, typical Old school Ford, waaaaayyy to much power steering, you literally could steer with one finger. 69-70 got better but nothing like today's cars. Hideaway headlights were vacuum powered which caused trouble when you had a big cam and low vac.

Leona's was a standard 67 with a "289" although from the factory, it was a 302 shortblock with 289 heads (as most 67's were) It was a metallic blue similar to laser blue but a touch darker, white interior, originally had a white vinyl top but we got rid of it. We ended up putting a 351w in it (Leona actually assembled the engine ) and it was quick but the brakes were the pits.

I had a '70 Eliminator look-a-likey but it was all black (not by choice) I had intended to paint it grabber blue with the black stripes but lost interest and sold it. 351W 400hp, ran 12.70's at 106-107 mph. Quite fast for a fairly stock motor.

i dont feel like my car is a "chick" car?

i do feel that the car itself is a girl (like in Gone in 60 seconds, how they were all womens names) but thats about it.

Every time I see a MINI out- especially if it has mods- i always just view it as another fast car I'd probably see at the track kickin some rice burners @$$

You know, if BMW F-1 would change to "Cooper F-1" imagine the image change for the MINI

But it is not a "chick" car either, the statement about girls in Mustangs seems to hold more water. I've never heard the song "MINI Sally" better slow your MINI down but there is one about mustangs. It was always said that in the 60's / 70's girls drove mustangs, guys drove GTO's, Torinos, Chevelle's, 442's and such.

The great thing about the MINI is it is "Unisex" appealing to both, and you cannot argue with the handling ! My old worn out 88 GT would have stomped Wensley in a drag race but in the turns, I take the same turns 10-20 mph faster than the Mustang at its limit.
Lol MT, sounds like you and I came from the same auto roots. Yep, back in those days, mustangs were definitely a chick car (my wife's first car was a 75 v6, lol). She wants a convertible '65 as her retirement gift (still looking for one). I've owned a slew of them starting in 86, drag raced them for almost 15 years. Now I want a car that actually steers.

So, does that make me an ex macho guy chick?

I'm partial to the 'cigar' bodied F1's. I'd love to get a Formula V, Formula Ford or something that looked like the mid 60's cars... Like the Cooper T71/T73 A 'manly' class of cars for sure. Preferably with no engine cover but only pic I could find quickly.

Yes, definitely tell my husband that our MINI is a chick car. Say it often, in fact start every post here with that declaration, make it a banner. Maybe just maybe, I won't have to share Maggie Mae with him.

That's funny ! I ordered Wensleydale with the 6spd to keep my girl out of it

Here you go Mark- Cooper Maserati (mixing two fine lines !)

Here is some more eye candy to show the Cooper racing influence on the MINI -

Note the wheels, headlights, mirrors, scoops and even the stripes and colors, too bad this one had a chevy under the bonnet - yes my asbestos suit is ready and waiting for flames

I was always mesmerized by the fact that in an old musclecar, in a hard right turn, your passenger appeared to be several feet higher than you.....
