Kudos to MINI of Sterling

I know I haven't always been thrilled with MoS in the past. However, they really outdid themselves. All things considered, they did a great job with the warranty work:

1) full clutch and flywheel replacement
2) passenger side strut mount
3) a leaking rear crank seal discovered when the clutch was removed.

Starbuck has 45k miles, so my warranty was about out.

All in all, they did a wonderful job. They got the work done when it was promised, so I have no complaints there.

I was at MoS last night for a little bit... saw Starbuck up on the lift. Looking good!

You did a great job hiding the wheel lock key, too.

Bonus: The tech that worked on your MINI is coming on the run on Sunday.

Christina-JCW,

What prompted this work? Can you tell us what sort of problems you were experiencing? I'm at the same mileage point.

Thanks, and glad it all turned out well

Hey Scavenger

Well, two Friday's ago I found out that my passenger strut mount had a 3/4 inch tear.

To give you some background, Starbuck had the stock suspension with 16" run-flats when I bought her in August '06. In March '07, I replaced the run-flats with BFG's. In December '07 I had the JCW suspension installed. In March, I had my new SportMax rims and Falken Ziex's installed.

In regards to the clutch/tranny problem, I knew there were issues (hard downshifts, noise, squealing). (and on a unrelated note - tranny's have their own problems..... LOL.....). Ooops. bad movie reference.....

I reported this before (maybe 20k miles ago), but nothing could be proven back then. When the technician at MoS investigated the car a few days ago, he determined that the clutch and flywheel had to be replaced.

Hope this helps.

It's good to hear that someone had good service at MoS. I picked up Zoe there one month ago and wasn't all that impressed with either of my MA's. I had TWO, and wasn't totally impressed with either of them.

Thanks for the info. the only thing I've noticed is a groaning/squeaky clutch pedal, not sure whether its something to be concerned about or not.
