Amen, brother

BTW Chris, I knew YOU knew, but I made that post for the casual readers and newbies who might not. You know the mentality... if a mild polish with light pressure is 'gooder', then a more aggressive polish and more pressure must be ever betterer!

Would this qualify as a nuke-you-lar experience?

It's very embarrassing to have our country represented to the world by someone who can't even correctly pronounce the word, nuclear

But that needs to go in another thread We return you now to your regularly scheduled program...

Okay, back to the Prima discussion

Thanks for the stripe advice, I'll give the PC a whirl ever so lightly and see what happens. I'm still heading more to having it painted on.

OK, I've been asked this and I have no answer (no way of knowing)... how long (how many washes) will 16oz of Primo (along with this http://www.detailersparadise.com/Vie...20070405181128 kit) last ? I know , I know what you're thinking... but I promised that I would ask.

Sorry, no idea.

So, to all of you clay users -- i've had my mcs for almost 3 weeks. I read about the sandwich baggy test to see if it needs claying - but generally do newer cars need to be clayed at first or a little later on?
Also, for you Zaino users -- i was just looking on their website for whatever someone was using instead of Epic - what's it called? There are so many products there that i dont know what's what! =)

Thanks!

I clayed Cricket after I had her about a month. I only clayed the parts that felt like they needed it.

This is the kit I bought from Zaino.

The equivalent to Epic would be the Z2. I used Z5 first, because I had a few swirls, but you probably won't need to do that. Their website was a little confusing... Hypnohealer was a great source of information on Zaino.

Whenever in doubt... clay. Can't hurt your paint, even if it's already pristine. And it only takes about 30 minutes to completely clay an entire MINI.

MiniPol, that link isn't working for me and I'm not sure I understand your question. Which Prima product are you talking about ?

Sorry about that.... I was talking about the products in this link (along with a 16oz Hydro) : http://www.detailersparadise.com/Vie...20070405181128 .... as was written earlier in this thread by LUCK219... $100 is a bit much for a starter kit and just wanted to make sure that the 16oz bottles would last me longer than 2 washes .

Ah, okay, the Starter Bundle.

All those products in the 16 ounce bottles will lost you a loongggggggggg time except for the Mystique carwash. But even that should last you about 20 washes. The bottle of Hydro should last you about 30 uses.

Me, I buy Mystique, Hydro, and Clarity in the gallon jugs. Of course, I'm an OCDetailer with more than one MINI, so if they made them in 55 gallon drums, that would be with me.

They will last you a very long time in normal (non-ocd) use. Mystique surprised me with how long it would go because you use so little of it (less than 2oz) compared with pouring in a quater of a jug of meg's various washes to get the same effect.

Prima goodies from DP delivered this afternoon. Sadly, the skies are menacing and grey, with a possibility of hail today and tonight.

I know of mail order only. For the Dirt Guard try Octane Guy's website at:
http://www.showcardetailing.com/eshop/shopexd.asp?id=65
This is by far a better product then the Grit Guards (old technology).

I don't use one. I don't think it is worth it. But thats just my opinion.

If you were to use one, then looked at the bottom of your bucket when done , you would realize just how wrong you had been. That's just my opinion Jeremy.
Or you could just not use one and continue to grind the grit into your paint.

Alright here goes.....I have been using DP's products almost exclusively (except for Octane Guy's Black Wow!) and love everything I have bought so far with Hydro, Mystic, and Clarity my Favorites. But have been fighting with the idea of taking it to the next level and buying a PC. My wife's PW MCS has these brown spec's on the boot that won't come off with claying. Would a PC help with this and what are other benefits from owning one? We have 2 MINI's and I think it would get alot of use, but just don't want to jump into something that with little knowledge could damage the finish. I am pretty OC about keeping both MINI's looking !

I'm still a newbie when it comes to detailing my MINI. You should copy this into the Detailing 101 thread. You'd probably get more responses that way. Just a thought.
