Anyone own a MINI with over 100k?

Thinking about trading in due to our last service and conversation with our SA of "potential" issues unique to the condition of our MINI... but would like not to (although the Clubman has my wife's eye). We have not hit 100k yet, but are getting there rapidly.

Anyone know of any major general issues on MINIs with high mileage that I should be aware of? Some of the issues our SA spoke to us about were very specific to the types of roads my wife has to drive on and damage to struts, wheels, shocks etc.

I feel given the mileage on our car if there are any major general issues that someone knows of we need to consider trading it in now.

Thanks!

Contact db at whiteroofradio.com, I believe his Cooper is over 180,000 now...

There's concern that the supercharger in the MCS will give out around 150,000. I believe Randy Webb did some testing that came to that conclusion...

There are a few of us around here! I have had no major problems, and just keep up w/ routine maintenance. I still have the original clutch and supercharger. As for shocks, I replaced mine around 130,000 (ish) when I lowered mine and put coilovers on. For a car w/ this milage all the usual things to do - brakes, tires, and oil.

Thanks mbab and xs for the replies

mbab.. took your advice and got a great email from db about what to look for that was fairly positive. Thanks for the heads up, he too mentioned a potential supercharger issue.

xs... your email makes me feel much better

I just reached 109,000 on my 03 S. Stock shocks, supercharger, clutch. Only issue I have had was a head gasket. This was my own stupidity. 12 degrees and no antifreeze in the system. Dont ask why!lol Had the head shaved, new gasket and now runs better than ever! No joke. I too wanted to trade it in before a 100,000 but now, Its a keeper.

I will be turning 190K on my 2003 R50 (standard MINI) next week. Here's what has happened since about 90K.
  • A/C replaced - shortly after 100K
  • Power Steering Pump replaced at about 170K
  • Complete Suspension rebuild (not done yet). Should have been done about 150K
  • Radiator needs to be replaced (not done yet). Just started leaking.

If you have an S, you can for sure look forward to replacing your supercharger between 100K and 120K.

And if you have an older MINI with the original rear control arms, you might want to consider replacing the lowers. Mine broke at about 140K. Oh yea, and you will need a battery at about 120K and a complete tune-up (spark plugs and wires) at about 130K.

Other than tires and brakes, that's all I've had to do to mine
