This is also very interesting.
Capital Driving Club is hosting the HPDE (High Performance Driving Education) Driving School at Summit Point Motorsports Park, on April 28th.
Summit Point Motorsports Park is only a little more than an hour from DC metro. http://www.summitpoint-raceway.com/
It will be held on Shenandoah Circuit.
"At variable lengths ranging between 1.68 and 2.2 miles, the Shenandoah Circuit is a no-holds-bared technical challenge that will take years to master. Sporting a dimensional replica of Der Nurburgring at 20 deg banking, camber changes (including negative) incorporated with with decreasing radius corners positioned on vertical drops, the Shenandoah Circuit is the odds-on favorite to be the most technical track in the country."
Find more detail from the Capital Driving Club HPDE
It should be a good warm up event before the Phil Wick's School.
if interested, please have your name on the list. Here

They've updated their helmet info, and Snell SA200 or M2000 (motorcycle) are now acceptable. http://www.capitaldrivingclub.com/hp...tionPacket.pdf

You betcha!
Lots of stuff to get ready for the day... lawn chair, cooler, bag to hold all the loose stuff in the car, tarp (to cover the lawn chair, cooler and bag full of loose stuff), got the tech inspection and helmet, just changed the oil in Dr. P, checked the lugs for torque... READY!
See you at the track on Monday!

Well, it looks like three of us are on the roster for tomorrow... Mr EZ, MrMellowYellow, and me. Sure wish the weather looked drier
I heard Maxicooper was thinking about taking pictures, but I'd understand if that doesn't happen.
Bet we'll have a real good chance to test the hydroplaning resistance of our tires!

I plan to get there when the track opens at 7:00. I think there's a drivers meeting at 7:45 (I don't have the info in front of me right now), along with tech inspections and a bunch of other stuff. Much better to be early than late.
Right now I'm not thrilled with doing this in a downpour, mostly from how wet I'm going to get Dr. P on the inside. But I'll still get there early and then decide.
I'm driving up from Annapolis, and will leave my house around 5 am or thereabouts. I know it's usually a 90 minute drive, but after stopping for gas, possible traffic jams, etc. I think that should be soon enough.
Hope that helps!
