R56 Gen 2 floor mats 2007
Here is the email from the parts manager:
These style floormats are indeed original MINI product however they are for the R53 MINI Cooper/Coopers and as such may not fit the contours of the floor on your 2009 MINI Cooper R56. Also the styling cues have gone away from the larger rotor shaped circles on this mat and towards the smaller rubber button shape on the new models.
Regardless they are still available for $88.95 but please be advised that we do not ship to the US.
Are you saying you have used or seen the rotor mats in a Gen2 MINI and they fit?
Just to clarify.... I contacted MINI of Windsor and they said the "rotor" mats are discontinued but still in stock. They were not made for the Gen2. Their description of the new mats sounds exactly like the ones avail here in the US. You can see them pictured on the configurator at www.MINIUSA.com.

I have them right now, the only part that might be a little different is where the foot rest is on the drivers side. The rear mats are a little small when they go under the seat but they fit width wise on the main part. The width under the seat is just a little narrow. I might return them and get the new ones for the 08 MCS.

My OEM carpet mats tend to slide around when I'm getting out of the car. When they are out of position, they interfere with the clutch and it is annoying. I hate rubber mats and don't feel like throwing down $200+ for coco mats, so I guess I'll live with it. I adjust the mats every time I get in the car.

You're missing the hold downs for the drivers side. They are discs that have a plastic screw on the bottom. They screw down into the carpet/foam floor and have Velcro on top that mates with the Velcro corners on the bottom of the mat. Next time you're near a dealer, ask for those discs. My OEM carpet drivers side mat doesn't move around at all. The passenger side doesn't have the Velcro on the bottom so it slides forward now and then.
sliding mat solution
My passenger side mats do not have the velcro either and someone did some sliding getting out of the car. Not good.
Went to the dealer and he showed me the disks but wasn't sure there were ports for them under the carpeting. Even if there were he didn't have the corresponding velcro to go under the rubber mats either...
The solution for me was to find a wide roll of self-adhesive velcro (the 'male' texture) and stuck it to the underside of the rubber.
Went to the dealer and he showed me the disks but wasn't sure there were ports for them under the carpeting. Even if there were he didn't have the corresponding velcro to go under the rubber mats either...

The wide roll of self adhesive Velcro works too.
Thanks for the pics. As much as I like the "rotor" mats, guess I'll just get the new ones like you. The fit issues would bother me.

With winter approaching, I am re-assessing the dealer-provided floor mats (which, by the way, tend to get hung up with the clutch pedal, no matter what position I arrange it)......
Does anybody have any compelling arguments for one type or brand of floor mat over another?

rear mats 51.47.0.416.194
The back are still a little small but there is nothing else to go with and no one really sits back there any ways.
Just got back from my Dealer and did the same thing. They just went and got a set and said here ya go. No problem. Its raining pretty good right now so I'll pop em on tommorow. thanks to all that posted.
i've had the oem carpet mats with velcro discs for a year and a half and they are not holding up well in the winter. the velcro has torn off the bottom of the carpets. the edges are curled and beat up. also, i've had some rear passenger vomit. i'm ordering the rubber mats.

nothing dramatic. my 3 year old daughter must have a sensitive stomach cause i drive just like any sensible mini cooper owner especially when she's in the car.
vomit really finds it's way into random crevices.

Mine didn't come with velcro disks and before I realized dealer didn't include them I invented my very simple fix for this problem. So far it works and the mat does not slip.
Just used the binder clip in the area where the mat touches the 'dummy' pedal. Then slide the shiny peace of the clip under the dummy pedal.

I just dealt with the slipping carpet floor mat. Here is what I did if anyone is interested.
I took the lids off two #303 green bean cans (thought about refried bean cans but didn't want to take the chance), smoothed off the edges. Then applied the hook part of Industrial Strength Velcro to one side and trimmed the edges. Get it right where you want it, the glue backing is very sticky.
Next, I punched a hole in the center of the lid with a #10 finishing nail and threaded in a 5/8 in. long sheet metal screw. After a thorough shampooing, I set the mat in place, estimated the center of where the disks should go and with a little extra downward pressure, screwed them into the floor board.
Floor mat is now rock solid.
Saved me a 280 mile round trip to ask the dealer pretty please. (Before you start, the trip is straight as a rail interstate all the way, flat as hell and not a memorable motoring experience.)

Glad to see this post - the sliding floor mats have been bugging me for a year and a half in my 2007 non S Cooper. I had some in my 2006 S and they fit much better than these do, but I think this is when they changed everything (body style). The ones in my 2007 move all over - never a serious problem, just a nuisance. The older body style fit much better and did not budge because the fit was so good. Off to the velcro store I go - wonder why the dealer didn't know to put the screws in with the mats - I assume they came with them - lazy maybe or didn't know what they were for. Living in Idaho and driving the car year round rubber mats are a must. I need to remember to fish the back ones out and put them in storage as no foot will ever touch them - think I glimpsed them a week or 2 ago.

Have you seen the Rubbertite all weather mats? I installed them in my R56 and love 'em. Great fit - no sliding around and plenty of capacity for water, snow, dirt, etc. They are custom fit for the MINI. We have them for $69.99 for a set of 4 mats. I especially like the way they look.
