Eliminating the double-pull door unlock

I have talked to a few dealer-types and searched the forums but am unable to find a conclusive answer to my question, so here goes...

Is there a way to set the R56 to unlock all of the doors when the ignition is shut off so that I don't have to double-pull the door handle? This was possible in the R50 and R53 via dealer programming.

Don't turn on auto-locking door locks.

There is a way i think, let me go hop in one of our demo's and figure it out

If you have the NAV you can deselect this feature on the screen.

As far as i know, there is no way to auto-unlock

sooooo, you'll either have to do the double pull or take auto unlock off

Just make sure you crash into something when you stop - all the doors unlock then....

Every time my wife is in the car, after we park, she pulls the handle and then looks at me like, "Hey! I'm trapped." Then I hit the toggle. Admittedly, she isn't in the car much, but it's still funny.

The first time one of your friends comes close to ripping off your door handle because it doesn't open on the first pull, the problem becomes apparent.

I thought there was a thread on here that someone got confirmation from a factory rep that this was possible (just no one knows how to do it apparently).

It's not a problem, I never stated that it was. It was a feature of the old cars that you could have implemented at the dealer and I want to find out if the new cars have the same feature.

Again, not a problem... It's just annoying to find features that you are used to in the previous generation MINIs did not carry over into the new cars.

yeah, i dont understand people sometimes... they pull really really hard to try to open the door... also, some people have trouble opening the door from the outside, i guess they dont realize you have to grab the black thing on the inside of the chrome handle, they think the chrome handle pulls out or something.

Don't lock them in the 1st place. When I put my key in the ignition the doors do not lock. It was programmed that way since I have owned it. The only way to lock it from the inside is to push the center toggle.

This is not an option for me, and I wish people would stop suggesting it. I want to lock my doors because I have a child. I also want them to auto-unlock like my previous MINI.

If anyone knows how to do this please post.

Sorry but this can't be done. MINI took this option away with the 07's. If you have auto-locking enabled you no longer have the option to have the car auto-unlock.

For the sake of your child it's sort of safer this way. If your child pulls the door handle while on the road it won't open the first time.

He's not concerned about the double-pull while the engine is running.....he wants what I have, the car unlocks automatically when ever I shut off the engine.

If my car did that, I would have it auto-lock the doors. For now, I just don't lock them.

That would definitely be nice...

Thankfully the double pull has become totally automatic to me, but every time a passenger halfway rips my handle off then proceeds to give me that sheepish look when the door doesn't open, a little part of me dies.

Simply leaving the doors open isn't really an option for me either. I've seen way too many robberies at stop lights or just sketchy people attempting to enter someone's car around here; especially at night.

Oh well. I'm starting to get the hang of quickly hitting the unlock toggle the second I turn off my engine and have a passenger. Hopefully my handles (and sanity) will stay intact until someone comes up with a fix.

Sense the toggle for the locks is in the middle of the dash, have your wife hit it before she gets out. I know my wife does not wait and I don't mind.

The double pull is already automatic for me and I brief my new passengers how to open the door right before I shut down the engine.

To bad MINI didn't continue this option.
