'02 BRG/W MC, pretty much stock as it can be. Right now, it has about 97,000 on it. I got it with about 53,000 on it, and have done oil changes according to the countdown thing, at about 15,000 or so. I'm guessing that BMW knows what it's doing when it set that interval, plus that makes it cheaper and easier to maintain. My wife loved it so much, she sold her '02 Corolla and bought a Silk Green '03 MC! I can't speak for her, but I plan on holding on to mine for as long as possible. I'm sure the new ones are nice, but this one's already a (new) classic in my opinion!

Val

Holy Cow!

I should really keep track of some of these "old" Generation I MINIs
that sound like they've never traveled outside their own 'neighborhoods'.

After 414,000 miles there's nothing even getting tired on mine!
But, if a tree fell on it, I'd not be at all afraid to look for one of these
"barely used" MINIs. (Gee - some must still be wearing original tires.)

Is It Worth It?

What else could you buy for the price of the repair and your 'old car'?

I did have to replace the clutch on my 2002 at 270,000 miles
but, the transmission (and everthing else) still acts like new at 415,000.

I don't know what my next repair might be, -
but, yes, it will still be worth it.

mY 04 HAS 169,000 MILES, BLEW HEAD GASKET, RUINED #4 PISTON AND ROD BEARING. HAVE TO BORE AND GRIND CRANKSHAFT AND REBUILD COMPLETELY. BECAUSE IT HAS BMW ATTACHED TO THE NAME PARTS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE. I HAVEN'T FOUND PISTONS LESS THAN $600.00. QUANTRY NOW IS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT MODIFICATIONS I WANT TO DO TO THIS MOTOR OR REPLACE IT. NOT EVEN GOING TO GET A QUOTE FROM MINI DEALERS. MY WIFES 05 CONVERTIBLE HAS ONLY 23.000 MILES, SHE WON'T LET ME DRIVE IT AND (AHEM) EXERCISE IT. LOVE THE MINI BUT PRESENTLY DRIVING MY CHEVY PICK UP.

Just turned 165K this morning.

I'm afraid the MINI has become my winter car now. I'm only driving it when the weather is lousy. (My new car doesn't have snow tires yet)

After this winter, it looks like I'll have to sell her to a new owner. It's been fun and I hate to see her go...

Hey, 03M1N1 - That's me you were talking about . .

. . . and it's Time for ANOTHER Inspection
Yes, it was just 4 years ago (Jan 29, 2007) that my MINI was in
for its 200,000 Mile Inspection. But, It just passed 416,000 miles yesterday -
so, I'll be back at Milwaukee's International MINI for another Inspection
day after tomorrow.

They'll know how to do it now; - but, when I called to make the appointment
for my 60,000 mile inspection, Tim said, "We'll have to call you back -
we've never done one of those." I never thought my driving around
'just for fun' was anything out of the ordinary till then.

Actually, the car and I still look pretty much the same -
and both of us are still working as well as our Creators intended.
If my attempt to attach the picture works, you'll remember the moment.
I did have to get a whole new license plate, holder, bumper, etc. when I hit
a BIG Racoon at 65 mph. (But, I'm pretty sure I spoiled his day also.)

Congratulations 'xsmini'.
Every mile from now on just adds to the fun -
and your confidence to continue 'motoring' together.

How cool is that?!! I found you!!

416k miles???? You've got to be kidding!!! That's Awesome!!! At 200k the car looked GREAT!

I'd love to hear what you did to keep it purring all those miles. Just normal maintenance and synthetic oils?? Keep the miles (and the photos) coming Hstanfield!!
