Getrag 5 speed trashed at 65000 miles

My Getrag 5 speed just self destructed at 65000 miles and needs to be totally replaced, and it's not cheap !

Lucky for me I have a great relationship with the dealer, and we've worked something out to keep the cost "down" but...

I know that the Midlands were famous for this, but a Getrag ???
Does anyone else have a bad history with the Getrag 5 speed manual ?
The clutch also needed to be replaced, but my service contract covered that (thankfully).

As much as I love this car, I'm now scared to death to keep it.The windshield cracked 2x under warranty, I had cooling system problems under warranty, the glove box has fallen apart (at my expense) and a wheel sensor has gone bad (at my expense) along with a host of other things that I can't remember at the moment. This is the most problematic car since my FIAT X-19.

Anyone know a good after market warranty ? I'm totally over this

Any transmission can fail, some just do it more than others.

No, so what happened to you is unusual, but is of course not impossible.

OK thanks.... Just the "luck" of the draw I suppose, too bad for me....
I'm thankful that I have a great relationship with my dealer and service guys,
it was not cheap, but a LOT cheaper than it could have been.

Thanks again.
