JCW Caliper differences between 2019 and 2020

Here's a surprising thing. I had a 2019 JCW Countryman, with aftermarket wheels (NM Engineering 11-spoke with 8 inch width and 45 mm offset). They cleared the front calipers with room to spare. I found a 2020 JCW Countryman that had brand new tires on what I'm sure were GRIP Mini wheels. The Calipers on the 2020 are MUCH longer, and I wanted to keep my original wheels. The dealership wanted to keep their new tires, so, as part of the trade deal, we were to swap wheels on the cars. I was fretting that my NM Eng wheels might not clear the longer front calipers on the 2020. Well, they worked great! In fact, when they drove it around, I noticed there seemed to be even MORE clearance than there was on the 2019...I was thrilled! I went in and signed the paperwork. When I came back out, the salesman said, "Well, the 2020 wheels scrape the front calipers on the 2019." Yikes! He said it was their problem because they had agreed to make the swap, but, I felt bad for them. Now they are going to have to repaint the calipers and put spacers on the front.

Such an odd event, but, hope it helps someone else avoid this glitch...the 2020 taller calipers aren't as thick as the 2019.

Sent my VIN to the Mini dealership. they say my front rotors are 360 x 30 mm, Rear are 330 x 20 mm. Anyone know the minimal thickness of these rotors? They are wearing SO smoothly and evenly, but I'm over 30,000 miles and expect to have to at least replace the pads soon. I do all my own brake work, and will just replace the rotors if I can't find the specs....but it would be nice not to have to do so...they are much more expensive than typical rotors (list for the front is in the upper $200's EACH!).

A lot of rotors have a minimum spec stamped on the rotor. Give it a good look you may be able to find it.
