arrive at 11am and depart at noon sounds like a plan to me. I would also be interesting in meeting up with the western crowd at the hurricane rest area.

When we drove up there last time, we had lunch at the lodge at Hawk's Nest. It was a great chance to meet and get to know each other a bit. My wife and I will probably eat there since she likes the view of the river from the window seats.

and came up with a 70 mile "loop", with an approx. 2 hour
drive time. This would give us a bit more variety... only
question would be which way to head... clockwise, or
counterclockwise ?

We could deviate to the gorge somewhere on the run,
if everyone wanted to.

Any thoughts' , folks?
that would be an awesome loop.. capitol to montgomery, hawksnest.. oakhill back to montgomery.. and home..

would be very fun.

WOW-I sure missed this one! Haven't checked this forum for ~2 weeks, and you have a run all planned. As much as I would like to join you, it doesn't make sense for me to drive for 4 hrs. to make a 2 hr. run and then drive 4 hrs. home. That's a VERY long day. I just did it, going to CT to visit our son and I was really tired. Maybe a "Fall Foliage" run in the mountains, later this year.

If I had known MiniEsq was going to be at Snowshoe, I would have motored over to say "Hi". Its only 20 miles form my home. She could have had pics of 3 Minis.

Just an observation: Its obvious that the club is essentially a Charleston/Huntington, Kanawha Valley, I-64, southern WV, what ever you want to call it club. I applaud you for organizing and for welcoming me and bcski from the Pocahontas outpost to the club.I know that there are many Minis in north Central WV, at least from Clarksburg to Morgantown and probably beyond. Maybe Parkersburg and in the Ohio Valley. The question is how do we let them know that we exist and encourage them to join? Or maybe thats not the point of all of this.

Enjoy the run. I'll be thinking of you.

eagle65: IMHO, that's definitely the point of all this. I would love to see more involvement from other parts of the state....I just wish we were better at getting the word out to them. I think it started as a Huntington-Charleston thing because that just happened to be where a few of us lived and then we were able to spread the word to Minis we saw. I think we need to work on that....maybe plan a joint run with the Pittsburgh group in another part of the state? I think we could make some efforts...but I guess that's a whole other thread.

And I tried to let the board know I was heading to Snowshoe early on but I got so busy with work shortly before that I think I forgot to post that I was definitely going. My apologies. Next time I'm at Snowshoe, I'll definitely post it! I'd love to see more Minis!!!

yes, the purpose is to bring in as many WV MINIs as possible..happy to have surrounding states as well. but like miniesq said, we just happened to all post on here and be located in the same general area, which makes sense because its the most populated region in the state. i'm sure there are a few near morgantown and parkersburg, its just informing them about NAM and our little sub-community here...that is the challenging part.

Checked the board late, Eagle...

When I first bought my MINI I did a search in the MINIUSA forum for
WV drivers... I found that there had been a previous MINI club, oddly
enough most of the members were from the Morgantown area <g>.

I contacted one of the members and found that they've pretty much
become inactive... so I figured it was time to gauge interest and start
up a new one... There had been a West Virginia thread here on NAM,
so the folks on that thread have "morphed" into Country Roads MINI's.

I'm all for folks from all points of WV being on board. I'm just looking
forward to going on a run with other owners this weekend <g>.

This club is in it's infancy... it's time we put some miles on our cars as
a group . (That way we can have good practice for a fall "colors" run.)

I guess I'm to blame. I think I started the West Virginia thread....at least the first one. I had actually come across a couple of other WV Mini owners on here before starting it and I know at least one was in Clarksburg. In any case, the WV Mini owners I originally found were much more spread out across the state. Maybe the thing to do is to plan events in other parts of the state too. We seem to have a couple of people already in the Snowshoe area - let's plan the next run around Snowshoe? If it's too far for people, we could maybe even make a weekend out of it. I know that's abitious at this stage in the club but it would be worth a try. And my boyfriend helped plan the TT East event that I just attended there so the good roads have already been planned (actually, the rides are good roads to get to a cool destination like Greenbank and all start at the Snowshoe resort). Plus, I seem to recall that the Pittsburgh area Minis are doing their annual fall foliage run in Morgantown this year - maybe we could hook up with them and generate some renewed interest in the Morgantown area.

Sorry for being out for so long... I have been pulling double duty at the golf course, in at 5:30 out at 5:00

I would love to get together Sunday, but this is my weekend "on" with a mowing crew. I will check on the drive time to Hawks, but I wouldn't be able to get out of here until about 9ish...
