So it begins........MotD 2007

To all the new CORN members. I am making the invatiation to travel with a group to MotD (MINI's on the Dragon) 2007. Please feel free to post here with interest in the event. I will respond with any answers to questions as well.
I had a great time last year. There are so many other MINI's at this event. Here is a link to pictures from last years event.

The reason this tread was posted is to bring your attention to another here on NAM. Jonathan Souza of www.mini5280.org has posted a thread in thier NAM forum as an invitation to all MINI owners going to the Dragon to travel with that group. I made the trip with them last year. What a great group. The only thing that would make it better would be more MINI's. I think we arrived with about 12 MINI's total from California to St. Louis, MO. Quite the specticle going down the road.

Please feel free to ring in with your suggestions on the 5280 thread, or here if you have a Nebraska contingent related question.

It is an illness I don't want a cure for.

I havn't got a chance to go there yet. But I have my fingers crossed for this year. If I can I'll go with ya. It takes alot of preplanning when your the chef/manager at a club. I don't get days off.

Tiemmothi 09-22-2006 09:12 AM

What is the Dragon? I kinda understand the Denver to St. Luis part.

Is the Dragon forum.

Basically its an 11 Mile highway in NC with a billion curves. DC and Atlanta mini clubs throw a big party there in may.

Tiemmothi 09-22-2006 11:50 AM

mmm

oh.. sounds fun... might have to go visit the parents in may.. they live in NC.

Zyamfier 09-22-2006 01:32 PM

Tim,
You are more than welcome. Just make sure you look at the other treads spoke of in this thread. If you looked at my roadtrip thread that is the area of the first leg. You could probably meet up with the Denver group in Colby, KS if that is where they come through Kansas in 07.

Tiemmothi 09-23-2006 08:33 AM

looks like there gonna hit you up near your home... its way to early for me to be worrying about it.. ill start getting serious about going(if i plan on going, which would be cool) in feb/march.

Zyamfier 09-23-2006 12:40 PM

You may want to make reservations for the resort soon. there were over 600 registered last year and people were already reserved for next year when they left in 06. There are other places to stay but it is a bit of a drive to Fontanna Village from other places. If you want to know more about the event go here and here for last years discussions.

Tiemmothi 09-25-2006 08:26 PM

Unfortuantly I cant reserve anything atm... I would like to know how long the drive takes if you caravan with other minis, ie from Colorado. I saw they were gonna do non major highways this year. Im just looking to get an idea how many days to get from here to there. It took me 2 days to get here (sidney) from Northern Virginia. If the events start thursday night ( i see its the first weekend in may every year) that would make it may 3rd. Figure 1 day to drive? (thats alot of driving in one sitting) or 2 days (if 2 days where would we stop?) etc. atm the forums dont have, or at least in my brief glancing, any set solid things atm. I could drive alone and get there np, but what would be the fun in that ;) I figure more people will know what, where and when in a few weeks, months? I need to brows the Colorado board too some... i bet there is more ingfo there as to what there doing as well...

Yes the Colorado boards have alot more solid info... ill be reading that and posting there.... cool. Would be nice to be able to go.

Zyamfier 09-25-2006 09:07 PM

Last year was 2 days for us. I met up with them in KC, Stopped for the night in St. Louis. Then early up the next morning and on to NC.
You are correct in the thought we will be taking a bit longer. I figure a full additional day. So that would put us out to leaving Monday or Tuesday morning. I think some of us are wanting to be there Wed. afternoon.

Tiemmothi 09-25-2006 09:17 PM

yea the colorado board has them leaving tuesday morning, and getting to KC tuesday night and arriving in NC on thursday, i think it was. I bookmarked vacation time in my planner. Only time will tell now. :(

I have a room reserved, so I am planning on going and if worse comes to worse and I have to back out, ill be out 50 bucks and a good time

so now to get rooms reserved at our stops along the way.

Zyamfier 01-05-2007 08:49 PM

CyebrOgre 02-13-2007 04:18 PM

You can add one more to the Dragon list. I, too, must pay homage to the Queen!

Nothing better than a big, long caravan. See Post #1 for details. Also, Jim knows details too.

Now the business...I invite all of you to purchase (cheap, real cheap) a nice DRAGON license plate. I have them for sale in the MOTD Forum, HERE:
