DIY delima ...

I have:
2003 mini cooper (base) w/cvt auto
2008 mini cooper S w/ 6speed manual

I have begun the path of DIY work but have ran into a few issues along the way
Issue #1.) the Haynes, Chilton and even Bentley repair manuals do not have pictures of things such as the "reverse/interlock" switch on the transmission, do not have accurate locations for "fill/drain ports" on said transmission. 2.) Most things on the R56 require a more complex computer than just an OBDII (k/i-bus)

The r50 required an engine swap, that has been done, everything re-installed and replaced to the point where the car drives, no immediate issues. No idea how much is an appropriate amount of fluid to fill the transmission to, the book says 4.7L capacity, yet everything online says you can use upto 6L...
Can someone upload an image/movie of exactly where to find this mysterious "fill plug" that I should be filling the fluid level to? I am currently @ 5L filling through the top port under the ecu/battery box.

The r50's transmission may need the adaptations reset, everything on the r56 requires the computer be told what you did...
I have downloaded and installed the NCSEXPER32_ENG, BMW Standard Tools 2.12, Final_V49 2014 All updated... but these files are actually out of date for communicating with either car as they've been updated @ the dealership since 2014. I cannot find any new files specifically for the Mini's and spending 180$ on a code scanner only to find out it won't communicate with the transmission module or airbag module... isn't really an option.
Does anyone have experience with NCSExPERT? or know of a scan tool that does work for both cars and all modules?
