No I'm pretty sure it 1.6L justaONE with their bluefin ECU and CAI, Header and cat-back......the one is sold in other markets, obviosly NOT the US and is basicly a Cooper with the ECU set for only 95 hp and simple plastics like a the grill and other parts that are chromed here on the cooper!

Thought I'd seen something about 1.4L
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MINI_(BMW)
In Portugal and Greece, the MINI One is powered by a 1.4 litre version of the Tritec engine but all other petrol powered MINIs use the 1.6 litre version
Edit:One has a 1.4L in 2007 everywhere it's marketed now.

its not true....the ONE is just a cooper, but the HP is restricted via the ECU. It's mainly offered in europe to keep the insurance prices lower. Thats why the ONE can get a TON of HP from a chip upgrade

I gave a link to a MINI uk site stating that the 07 has a 1.4, and another saying that a only couple of countries had a 1.4 instead of the 1.6 for the earlier years (so most of Europe was definitely 1.6 before '07). I had thought I'd heard something about One and 1.4L, it turns out I didn't obviously know exactly what I'd heard. I fully agree that the Lohan car is a 1.6, because it's not an '07. I'm not saying the Lohan car is a 1.4.

You're saying that's not true? Can you give some backup?

Are you saying the '07 MINI One isn't a 1.4 even though the MINI UK site is saying it is?

MINI ONE 1.6.......the ONE we all know......

MINI ONE 1.4.......2002-2004....same MINI motor the ONE has

MINI Cooper 1.6.......

I work for a small autoparts wherehouse that deals with european cars and I have access to the programs the dealerships use. This information came off the BMW ETK.

Finally got the Dyno done...

Top power = 120.53.
Top torque = 108.14.

Although it's a 12hp gain from my previous dyno, I was told that the stock ECU is holding me back, and when that gets changed, the car should be looking at 130's or even 140's (one can hope, right? lol).

Take care,
Leo.

That should put you around 134BHP. If you can get it up to 140whp, you'll be in MCS territory. I expect and ECU tune on the normally aspirated car may get you to 130ish whp.

very dissapointing numbers i must say,

i have got a cooper with these mods..

CAI pipercross viper induction kit
obx header
oem cat
supersprint catback
software tuned by dutch racing company

and i am putting down
93 kw or 124,67 bhp
158 nm (torque)

so i assume the head did not give u the actual numbers Thumper predicts ???

lets say u have a standard cooper with 115 bhp , + the minimal thumper predictions of 18 bhp , makes it 133 bhp....

so u are way off actual predictions with your new head. And sorry to say , but i think thumper is predicting to much on the coopers....

please tel me if i am wrong cause i would like to do headwork myself , but for these little improvements i do not find it worth it ?

I agree... I believe there are other issues goin on here. that is the GOOD thing about using a real driver instead of a car I own. I , having no control on what or how it is installed. still more to come. 12 HP is a bummer.. yes?

It was good you did a delta to avoid the "my dyno vs yours"...

If the new head just requires an ECU to go with it, that wouldn't be the end of the world. Hopefully you'll get some better numbers then.

What do you have in mind.... I have an extra head available, a dyno shop nearby and the ability to install it. I want to port and polish a head with a gasket match. I already have a homemade CAI, milltek exhaust, JCW ECU reflash. I could try the both cams before and after the Head swap.

Actually, he's right on. He's putting down 120 WHP, not BHP. If you put in the correction factor to BHP, he's putting down 134.4 BHP, 10 BHP more than your car!.

so - can somebody please clearly quantify the gain (HP over stock) with the ECU upgrade (say MTH) and without ?

and what is the cost (the head itself + install) ?

Thanks !

NO ONE is doing that.. there are a lot of independent shops out there, I think the Dynos are grossly different also.. can pull here and then there and then over there... too many variables!! I can do the befor head// before cam/ befor water meth... and then add it all together... but then tune?? there is no one close to tune.. and then run on my dyno... see what I mean??
Maybe soon... but I dont feel there is a place yet!! And then there is always the BS factor that seems to inter in there..LOL

Head thru me is 1250.00 install in Fl is about 400-450.00, add the gaskets and that will kick it up a few more bucks.. dont know about else where??
