Just had new ECU upgrade done on my '03 MC at Roadshow.......

It's been about a month since I had it done and I feel sure the improvements I feel aren't coming from the placebo effect. It revs quicker, feels peppier and, best of all, it seem a lot easier to take off without bogging on a hot day with the AC on. The only thing I'm not sure of is how it would respond on a 105 degree day, only had 93 since the ECU upgrade.

If you take your MC to the dealer I would definitely ask for the latest ECU upgrade.

What version are they up to now? If it's no longer under warranty, what's it gonna cost?

Checked the report I got in the mail from Roadshow, it reads, "Reprogram DME per Bill Smith with progman 21.2 and clear all adaptations".

I don't think they are doing V-36, 38 etc., like they were before.

As for the out of warranty cost, I don't know, but I would expect, of course, a lot.

I just had this done to my 02 CVT. It was covered on a recall since I was in for the SRS light that came on, also covered under 10 yr / 150k miles warranty - extended to cover the Airbag system.

The service for the software is written as follows:

SIM 12-04-06
PROGRAM DME CONTROL UNIT UPGRADE
RECALL 120406
00-56-799(5) DC 00-12-16-02-00DL
PERFORMED SIM 12 04 06.REPROGRAMED THE DME

Total cost: $0.00 (+tax)

Car is peppier and seems to engine brake more consistently - seems to be a good thing. My 2002 CVT has 118,000 miles. I did replace the CVT 8 mos ago.

strz0001 I was wondering about your warrenty to cover the air bag system. I have an 02 MC and my light used to come on all of the time, but now it is only every once in a while. Did the dealership give you this warrenty or did you have to purchase it. Either way I want it so that I can feel safe in my lemon of a MINI.

There is an extended warranty on the Airbag system to cover the high resistance through the passenger seat. http://www.alldata.com/tsb/BMW/11438...103/index.html

Hopefully, this is your demon.
