Outstanding! Please let us know how it works out.....if it goes well I'm sure a number of us (starting with me!!!) would like to get our hands on the same bearings.....

wouldnt be less pricy to get the getrag tranny? or are you trying to make the midlands bulletproof for less than a new one?

Well I'm just replacing the bearings for now to fix the seal problem. I'm doing this because my clutch and flywheel needs to be replaced.

Bearings are only $40 CAD.

Rebuilding a midlands to be bulletproof might make sense when this car becomes a project car in the future...

The straight cut dog box with lsd and different final drive ratio sounds too intense for street so I don't think I'll go with that... but we will see what I'll use it for in the future...

it sounds interesting, I dont like the "weak" feeling I get from my tranny, and its not even the midland.. has the getrag been around long enough for anyone to have problems??

Okay since they are in the tranny anyways they are going to do a rebuild...

Swapping uprated gear syncros and diff wheel along with the bearings. We are getting the parts from http://www.minimaniauk.com

Final product will be...

A new gearbox from the dealer would be $2,500 Canadian. Mini Mania is selling they're uprated R65 gearbox for $1,200.

I'm just getting the parts from them and have my mechanic rebuild it.

So I think I solved the weak Midlands problem. Does that mean I can add even more power?!?

Or is the engine weak too?

Has anyone changed out their "lifetime" transmission fluid? Will this help prolong the life of the Midlands? Is the stock fluid already all synthetic?

I went with Red Line MTL. Shifted smoother but my tranny went anyways. I think it's inevitable.

I guess I'll answer my own question that started this thread. Midlands R65 has a maximum torque input of 118lb-ft. That's out of the Bentley manual... I have had since it came out.
