obx on cooper
obx on cooper
I am seriously considering buying my self the obx header i just had a few questoins. i was wondering who is running on a regular cooper? Is there any lose at the bottom end? Any gains at the top? and is it worth it to get the header ceramic coated?
Thanks

To answer this question your best bet is to locate an MC owner with the OBX header or find one that has any aftermarket header.
Then go for a ride and see what you think.
It is possible that with some headers you may loose power on the low rpm range in exchange for a little gained at highest rpms.
The other thing to consider is how is this header upgrade going to fit in with the rest of your plans for upgrades to your MC?
Generally speaking a header upgrade alone makes little sense since the design of the MC engine and that of the stock MC exhaust are bigger limiting factors than the stock header design.
This means that you are better off doing upgrades to the intake and cat-back exhaust before considering anything to the header itself.
Consider that some headers allow for greater exhaust noise when used in combination with upgraded exhausts. Usually those headers lack a catalytic converter.
Ceramic coating can be a good thing for headers (rough cost about $150-175) as it keeps heat down from getting into the engine bay and helps reduce loss of power due to heat soak (esp on intercoolers if you have an MCS).

A header was my next logical choice because right now i have a borla cat back and a k&n typhoon. I was thinking header because i would like to have a couple mods before i did my tuning so that i could recieve the maximum power from it.
Any one out there have a header on there cooper?
Thanks
Austin
