Recently took a trip to the salvage yard and passed by a base 2007 Cooper that happened to have the DDMWorks intake. I really like the DDMworks intake on my R50 and thought someone here might want one for their R56, so I started taking it off. When I got to the filter, I was surprised to see this:
The rubbing wore right through the filter! On the exhaust manifold shield, you can see where it had been rubbing:
If you have one of these on your R56, be sure to check it make sure it's not happening with yours.
