Maybe I just can't find it, but we should start a thread on different modifications people are doing with their MC's and MCS's. Possibly with tips and tricks to help the rest of us out who are new to this...Here's my helpful hint of the day:

If you have the 17" wheels and you want a tire upgrade (which is really common due to the poor performance of the stock run-flats) I would recommend 225/45's. They DO fit with NO abnormal rubbing, I have some Yokohoma ES100's on my MCS Works right now. I did have a little bit of rubbing when I had 3 people in the car and the car squatted real good (thanks JCW) when i was exiting a turn real hard, the outside rear wheel just touched the well a bit...

Shawzie9,
Aloha and welcome to NAM.
Maybe you can discuss this idea with Gabe Bridger.
If you check out the Performance modifications Forum of NAM you will find more than enough suggestions on how to mod an MC or MCS. To find out what others have done in your particular MINI club or area is up to you and could be done on this thread if there is enough interest to do so. In the Hawaii Regional Forum we are fairly active as a club and post alot but there is no real thread devoted to which mods each of us has in particular.

About your tip. I don't know anyone using 225/45 tires with any rim size (on the street) except for autocross or track with 15x7 rims. My Yokohama ES100 215/45-17 tires rub the same way as you describe due to the very square shoulder of the tire and how it sits with my lowered H-sport springs. I'd talk to Alex@tirerack about the 225/45 size. That would add to the cost, weight and you'd have to watch that the offset of the rims was within limits for the MINI.

Here is my tip of the day for modders-
Have a clear vision of what you what to do with your MINI. Then set a budget for yourself and stick to it.

There is nothing wrong with a stock MC or MCS. If you agree then spend your time and resources on driving school on a regular basis. Once you see how an excellent instructor drives your MINI you will know what I mean.

Shawzie9 - are you curious what other Chicago area owners have done to their MINIs?

Like minihune said - there's tone of mod information in other boards on NAM if you want more general information.

Here is a good thread on using 225/45 tires with 16" rims.
Check out what Alex@tirerack has to say about rubbing issues. There are various factors.
