I got around to this earlier in the weekend. I love how it came out. Kind of a lousy pic, but it was raining outside. I debadged it while I was at it.

Yeah! Plasti-dip and then paint over that any color you want.

I have always been hesitant on using the Plasti-Dip. You just wipe down the parts and spray? No sanding the chrome? Is the finish a Gloss Black?

That's correct....just wipe the area down (clean it), then mask the area that you do not want plasti-dipped. No sanding needed.

The finish is more of a matte black (usually), but now there are a few more options available. If you search the threads, you can find many photos from users who have done this to certain parts of their MINI's. Or, you can google "plasti dip on car" and then look at the images to get a general idea of what it looks like. Also, check out www.dipyourcar.com

Has anyone tried PDing their rims? I am doing all my chrome pieces next weekend but I want black rims and I am on a tight budget. I saw a few videos on YouTube and it looks easy enough but I have also heard some bad things. Opinions?

I did my winter wheels and they lasted all winter no peeling or anything, even took it through the carwash multiple times. I also did the doorhandles and grill. The top of the doorhandles have started to peel a little from constantly opening and closing as your finger slide across the top.

I plastidipped my rims a month into getting my Justa last year and they turned out great! Funny enough I actually removed all the platidip today to actually paint my rims for a glossy black look instead of the matte black you get with the plastidip.

I've also done my chrome grill, rings around my headlights, taillights and the boot handle! Gotta love plastidip!

Just buy the glossifier. You spray this over the color of dip you want and it gives a glossier finish. They even have the clear you just spray on as a temporary clear bra for love bug season or rock chips on a road trip, etc. dipyourcar.com is the place to get the stuff home depot doesn't carry.
