didn't read any of the posts
the only "chip" for the coopers is either sprint booster (plug and play) or ecu tune (not worth it on stock applications IMO)

ECU tune= better actual performance, SB= better response

The sb is nothing more than an improved pedal throttle response i.e. you dont have to go all the way into the floor to get to the power band. It makes the car responsive underfoot. Sure it shortens the travel, but if you own a non-s that means something. I have tried the following combinations:

Stock no mods,
CAI only= instant fun and sound,
CAI + ECUtune= more top end >7200rpm without the drop off at 6800rpm,
CAI+Stock ECU file+ Sprint booster tighter than stock response i.e. fun,
CAI + ECU tune+ Sprint Booster= solid a$$ performance from my 2002 non-s, don't think there is much more to get out of it though.

Each iteration I let the car learn through at least a whole tank of gas and usually two.
In the end, My non-s is twice the car it was stock (it is a 2002).

So I guess it's not possible to quicken gas pedal response with only an ECU tune, right? Was hoping to kill 2 birds with one stone myself.

I am pretty sure you CAN improve pedal response with a tune... I'm not tuned so I can't say for sure, but that's the impression I get.

A tuner can adjust many things...dsc, traction control, and YES, they can adjust the throttle sensetivity a bit...but it is a fixed value...so if set too hi, it is hard to drive in traffic...that is why the SB has different settings/on/off.
my r53 was adjusted when it was tuned....about medium on the sensetivity, so yes, i like it, and it is an added value from gettinga tune.

I have a RMW tune that has, IMHO, improved everything including pedal response, but the problem it seems a lot of r50 owners are wanting to kill: that droop, lag, stall, hesitation many names for it that occurs from take off from a stand still and it seems apart of the drive-by-wire setup. And I don't mean launching in a race. Albeit my car is 10 years old, other minis I have driven have similar lag. I believe the SB and a ECU tune yield a helluva result solving issues r50's owners have reported on tons of threads.
