Has anybody been able to track down a 2011+ non-S black mesh grille?

Alternatively, anybody have any pictures of the black slat grille with BRG?

And finally, does that chrome bar in the lower grille come off? I think that thing is just begging to be removed/dipped.

on 2011 Minis, the S mess grille will fit a non-S but you will have to also replace the lower chrome piece that surrounds the grille. I purchase a 2011 Mini S grille from someone and put it on my 2011 Clubman non -s and then had to order the lower chrome piece that surrounds the grille from the mini dealer.

As for the chrome strip that is below the bumper. Do what I did, just tape it with black electrical tape. Old gear head trick used in 60s and 70s to black out parts or the entire grille before there was black plastic coat.

So if I ordered the jcw mesh grille from outmotoring, and the S blackout grille surrounds, you're saying that should work? I'm confused as to how that would fit and how such an easy solution has been overlooked for this long

And thanks for the other tip.

Now, I see you mean aJWC grille vs the S grille. You are probably right , I replaced the Chrome Horizon standard grille with the black S grille. Not sure the difference between S and JCW grille

Grille for sale

To TH3 - I just went back on this site and reviewed who I bought the grill from , it was from a JCW Mini Clubman. So it should fit

attached is a pic of the grill in my 2011 Non S MIni Clubman

We're there any problems getting it to fit on there, did you use some glue or silicone, or did it really just go right on?

Perfect fit- no glue, the tabs lined up the same as with the factory grill.

In the pic you can see how the corners of the S lower grill trim don't match the contour of the bumper opening, causing the trim to not sit flush with the bumper. Trimming the corners as described earlier in the thread would take care of that.

But it looks like it does get on there, the fit isn't perfect but if the tabs line up and it's secure and everything, I can overlook a little gap in the corners. Besides, if you order the injection molded plastic black grille surrounds from outmotoring, they'd probably be easier to trim than the chrome... and that's what I want to do.

Soda, any chance you could post a close up photo of the fit at the corners?

Has anyone tried to put the black slat grill of 2011+ to a pre-LCI?

Won't work. The non-S grilles are not interchangeable on the original ('08-10) and LCI ('11-13) cars. If they were interchangeable this discussion wouldn't have happened as the pre-LCI non-S JCW grille would work on the newer cars, but it doesn't (I tried).

That said, I haven't tried it but I'd guess there's a very good chance you could pop the black slats off the newer grille and fit them on an older one in place of the chrome slats. Or you could just vinyl wrap or plasti-derp your chrome slats. Would be much cheaper.

Hello everyone, i know this board has been dead for a while, but did anyone come up with a definitive solution? I have a 2011 non-S hardtop and i would love to swap the grill for the JCW version. I'm new to the forums and would appreciate any suggestions.

dead thread resurrection

so many posts with no part numbers! all the links here are dead. fairly new to the mini scene. I would love to get a black mesh grill for my 2007 non-S mini, but I want to keep the surrounds chrome. any chance of this happening?

does this go for the lower bumper grilles as well? I want to upgrade my 2010 R57 Justa plain black grille to the 2011 kind with a chrome strip like the one in the pic. Has anyone successfully done this or know if it can be done?

My current lower bumper grille on my 2010 R57 Non-S

What I want to upgrade to, the chrome strip lower grille.

Thank you. I still don’t have confirmation as to whether it fits a pre-LCI or not. Do you know if it does?

It’s for LCI non s justa only. Pre LCI I assumed you could just use a s grill.
