Whats the best intake for a MC?
I havent been on this forum in along time(SORRY). Im finally back!!! I have a 2002 MC and Im wanting to start to and do some Mods. I am thinking about an intake and Im looking for the one to give me the best performance and HP increase, What would you recommend.
Thanks.
Thanks.
If your willing to spend 300 bucks the pipercross viper 'might' be provide more hp than the green twister intake. But I consider Green the best filter maker that I know of, and thier intake is very similar to the vipers. So at a 100 less than the viper it seems like an obvious choice. I don't like K and N, and thier intake system is around 300 also....
Take that as you may, but personally I would get the twister intake while the getting is good.

Here's an interesting thread... You might try to find HP somewhere else.

minihuni:
Maybe I wasn't clear enough in my post on THAT thread.
That spreadsheet is ONLY for forced induction.
N/A (naturally aspirated ) engines, stand to get large gains from cold air intakes.
The air coming into a forced induction vehicle gets compressed (thus heated pv=nrt....) and cooled by the intercooler. The efficiency of the intercooler is the OVERWHELMING factor of the tempature of air going into the engine. Despite this, a high flow filter will still give some gains even with a turbo, the adiabatic effect will add nothing however.
The colder the air going into the engine, the more hp. The more air going into the egine the more hp. Indisputable.
Now theres only so much cold air one can ram into engine, so the gains aren't going to be great on our little 1.6L, unless all the plugs are pulled (headers and exhaust) and other work is done including port and polish and maybe a performance cam. THEN, the intake will really shine.
With that said, the few hp we get out of it stock is well worth it, because show me something else that is as simple to install and as cheap, and produces such a fine growl under full throttle (thats right, nothing else like it exists).
edit: I notice you drive an MCS, you might want to try not to come into a thread about the MC (not S) and tell us how to make HP, unless it is something of substance.

What a CAI is going to give you is a more agressive tone under the hood and a little more power lower down in the RPM band. I already have an aftermarket exhaust, so the combo makes for a different ride. Car sounds very different from stock, has more power. The CAI is not going to give you 10 HP. The Green Twister hooked up to the front air scoop bypassing the resonator box stays cool to the touch after highway driving. I have only heard from others online regarding the Pipercorss Viper, K&N Typhoon and Moss their ruminations - usually similar to what I have just described.
Personally , I have found my best mods to be in the suspension area.
